Incoming 1Ls / The 1L Summer
« on: July 21, 2007, 08:59:31 AM »
So, I know this is a bit forward-thinking of me, but I was recently offered a significant promotion at my place of employment for next summer, which will be after my 1L year. I had planned to seek typical 1L employment, but the pay will be significant -- $3000/wk over a 10-11 week period.

Given that I'm borrowing full cost at Gtown next year, the idea of earning that much money is tempting. I know I should probably just avoid the temptation of the easy money and find some law-related job that will pay at least some money, but -- any thoughts? Is 1L summer employment as important as it's cracked up to be?

Anyone heard anything back from GLS yet? ... or know anything more about the app process or when we might hear?

Incoming 1Ls / One course for law school edification...
« on: December 27, 2006, 06:36:27 PM »
Hey LSDers,
So, I'm in the fortunate situation next semester of having a spare credit in my final semester. I don't need to fulfill any requirements, and I don't have any burning "I have to take xxxxx before I graduate or I'll feel unfulfilled" feelings.

The question, then--if there's one course at my liberal arts college I could take to give me any sort of more well-rounded background for law school, what would it be?

-No political science (I don't have the prereqs to take any courses that would be helpful)
-No linguistics or literature (I'm a major)

My thoughts included an econ intro, intro to stat, psych, philosophy ...

Any ideas?

Law School Admissions / BC Regular decision timeline
« on: December 20, 2006, 10:40:29 AM »
So, I collected my balls and called BC Law to ask about the decision timeline. (You may remember that I submitted everything for Early Notification, but failed to check the box. Oops.)

The lady (who was very nice and had an awesome Boston accent!) said that the committee has begun pulling regular decision files for review as of the last couple of days. She said it will take 4-6 weeks from complete date--so, for anyone complete before this week, mid-late January is when we can look for decisions.
