sooooo...I received a FAIL in a random "health advocacy" 2-semester course, this is how: it was a two semester course and the administrators registered the students into the course (since it wasn't open to everyone, you had to go through a whole application/interview process to get in).  I never got registered for the second semester so the "Incomplete" grade I received for my first semester (students were to receive a grade at the end of the second semester) lapsed into a "Fail."

My school does not have a "Retroactive Add" policy, so I could not add the second semester of the course and receive my actual grade.  I've talked to the main administrator for the course, and he has written a letter stating that I have passed both semesters of the course.  but, I still have a FAIL on my transcript.

my question is should I send in an addendum regarding this single grade on my transcript, along with the letter the administrator has written?  I've looked through previous posts about addenda but haven't seen anything that concerns only one grade on a transcript.  I feel like I should explain the FAIL, rather than leave it unanswered on my application.  Is this appropriate?

I was wondering which of the T20 schools give you a chance to submit a "Why X?" Optional Essay?  I know Penn and Michigan both do...any others?  I've read the fine print in all the apps over and over, but maybe I'm missing something? thankssomuch.

Each December 31 in Country Q, a tally is made of the country's total available coal supplies - that is, the total amount of coal that has been mined throughout the country but not consumed.  In 1991, that amount was considerably lower than it had been in 1990.  Furthermore, Country Q has not imported or exported coal since 1970.

If the statements above are true, which one of the following must also be true on the basis of them?

A) In Country Q, more coal was mined in 1990 than was mined in 1991.
B) In Country Q, the amount of coal consumed in 1991 was greater than the amount of coal mined in 1991.
C) In Country Q, the amount of coal consumed in 1990 was greater than the amount of coal consumed in 1991.
D) In Country Q, the amount of coal consumed in 1991 was greater than the amount of coal consumed in 1990.
E) In Country Q, more coal was consumed during the first half of 1991 than was consumed during the first half of 1990.

I just can't wrap my mind around this one...

"E" I eliminated without hesitation.

TCR is "B": In Country Q, the amount of coal consumed in 1991 was greater than the amount of coal mined in 1991.

But wouldn't this mean there would be a negative supply?  Or are we to think there is a surplus of coal mined from previous years?  I put "D", any help would be greatly appreciated!
