Incoming 1Ls / Pepperdine v George Mason
« on: July 17, 2008, 05:51:12 PM »
Any thoughts on this?  I am posting for a friend (I am a rising 2L) who is trying to decide.  No money at either.

At this point, he hopes to practice in CA.  I told him that GMU has been rising in the rankings and making a bit of a name for itself (although, so has Pepperdine).

Curious if you guys have any further insight.  Thanks.

Incoming 1Ls / Question about regional schools...
« on: March 28, 2007, 03:59:57 PM »
I know the general consensus is that unless you attend a t14 school, your school is "regional."

I live in California and will likely go to a school ranked in the 20s or 30s on the East coast. Assuming I am in the top 1/3 or better in my class, how will the employment prospects be if I returned to California or another out-of-region area to practice?

I know this isn't very specific, and we are all just prospective students anyway.  Just curious about any insight.  Thanks.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / George Mason!
« on: March 21, 2007, 05:13:24 PM »
Yes!

Got a call from George Mason today, accepted!  I am interested in economic law and thus really thrilled about getting into GMU.

I still have 17 schools to hear from, but GMU is in my top 3 and I will be celebrating tonight...sushi and drinks sounds good haha...

Anyway, just wanted to share, the waiting has been terrible, as everyone will agree...

Financial Aid / Question about $$$
« on: February 25, 2007, 08:09:46 PM »
I did a quick search but did not really see this topic covered specifically.

What is the best way to go about negotiating for more scholarship/grant money?  Is it poor form to kind of leverage one school against another, ie telling say UCD that Hastings offered me this amount of money, etc etc..

Is an in-person meeting necessary, or a written statement, or just a phone call/email?

Thanks...

Law School Admissions / Resume Question....
« on: December 29, 2006, 02:20:31 PM »
Some schools specifically ask for resumes, others don't.  Is it OK to go ahead and send them anyway to schools that don't ask?  Thanks...

I hope to send out my applications tonight or tomorrow.  If anyone has a few minutes and wouldn't mind taking a look at my PS, that would be great.  It has been revised many times and some LSD people have been very helpful.

Just nervous I guess and could always use a 10th, 11th opinion  ;D

PM please if you have the time...

I would like to send this out right after Xmas, and would really appreciate any readers.  My grammar is decent so you won't have to deal with that.

This is like the 1000th draft and I think it is close...thanks.
Oh yeah PM me or post if you are willing.

Law School Admissions / dumb question on supplemental answers
« on: December 13, 2006, 09:14:19 PM »
LSAC says that any answers to supplemental questions have to be sent directly to the school.  Is this the case?  Why cant one simply just attach it with the online ap?

Thanks for any info...

If anyone has time and wouldn't mind reading over my statement, that would be really appreciated.  I am good with grammar, punctuation, whatever, so you wouldn't have to deal with that.

Thanks, have worked months on it, finally have a version I am satisfied with.  If you are willing to read, please post here or PM me.
