Incoming 1Ls / Last day of work
« on: May 30, 2005, 01:56:02 PM »
Suddenly and out of the blue, I quit my job today. I offered a week's notice but my boss told me to beat it. I had 3 months left on a gov't contract.

My job was unchallenging, boring, but cushy. I was getting fat and lazy surfing the net and eating grease all day -- so I said @#!* it! I am a free man as of 5:00 pm today!!

Choosing the Right Law School / Cardozo(10K) or Seton Hall(24K)
« on: May 11, 2005, 11:42:33 AM »
Hey guys,

Like so many of you, I dont know what to do. My goal is to transfer into a higher Tier 1 in the Northeast after my 1L. $$$ is also a big concern for me. Calculating all costs, Dozo would probably be about an extra $20K a year.

Do you think choosing SH over Dozo would significantly hinder my transfer options?

In case I don't transfer, do you think Dozo is so much better than SH to warrant spending and extra $20K?

What do you think I should do?

Thanks.

Law School Admissions / what do you all think?
« on: October 13, 2004, 12:12:25 PM »
Hey Y'all. Been a while but I need some advice. I desperately want to go to law school in the New York area..

I know I wont be getting in at any of the top schools but what do you think the chances are of me gettting in at Brooklyn, Cardozo, Fordham, or Rutgers. I know I'll have transfer options if I have a great 1L.

My LSAT is a decent 168 but my gpa is a dismal 2.4.  I owned a construction company during my undergrad and that really did not leave any time for school. I'll be adding an addendum for that. I have done work (less than a year) on a 2nd undergrad degree and maintained close to a 4.0 on that.

I have sparkling LOR's from the mayor of my city (edmonton,ab,canada), a lawyer and a proff.

Also, I'm from Canada and a URM (east indian descent).

Am I screwed or do you think I have a real shot?

Law School Admissions / Learning Disablilities

Just curious. What will LS generally accept as an undiagnosed learning disability? ADD for sure right? How about Depression? OCD? Any others?

Law School Admissions / Upgrading GPA? Can it be done for Ivy League?
« on: June 21, 2004, 05:11:22 PM »
I know that some of the CDN schools only look at your last 20 courses when calculating your gpa. Others still allow you upgrade your gpa by taking undergrad courses in addition and subsequent to your undergrad degree. No school in CDN will allow you to upgrade your gpa through a Masters program - although this can be looked on in a nice way when considering peripheal factors.

SO is there any chance in hell a US Ivy Leauge may have a similar policy? How about a top 20?

Studying for the LSAT / Lets talk more about the June LR
« on: June 21, 2004, 05:05:07 PM »
I want to make Jacy feel better. Anybody remember anymore q's from the LR sections. Come on Thalky your good at this and our go-to guy here on LSD...

How about that parallel reasoning question on LR2. It was question 22. All I remember is I chose C.

There was also a formal logic q in LR2. #23 I believe. All I know is I chose B. And so did the person beside me.
