So. My pre-application personal rankings were HLS-Boalt-Penn-Columbia-NYU. It's still basically that, and it's happily a non-issue since I got into HLS. But I'm getting the sense that that preference order is completely stupid, when obviously the correct order (among these five; where are SLS? YLS? UChi? Duh!) is HLS-CLS-NYU-Boalt-Penn.
FWIW: I don't really know what I want to do with my degree, though I could see myself doing civil litigation or working for the Innocence Project (sigh...I love them); I would loathe a cutthroat atmosphere; I'm from Philly but adore the Bay area; I would like to have a life, even during/immediately after law school, which means I don't want to work 80 hr weeks ever. EV-er. Oh, also: I'm going to have a shitload of debt no matter how I slice it. UG and LS.
In light of these considerations, is my preference order as stupid as it seems to be? Obviously I'm waiting on ASWs to get a feel for the school (very very important to me), but the overall issues remain: had I not gotten into HLS, would I have been an absolute fool to pass up CLS for Berkeley or Penn?
Any and all responses (incl.: "You continue to be a dumbass") appreciated.
