Rutgers - Newark / Newark Neighborhoods

I'm planning on attending Rutgers - Newark in the fall, but I'm from Seattle. Does anyone have any advice about what neighborhoods are either a) close to campus, or b) a nicer part of Newark? I went out to Hoboken and Jersey City with my fiance while we were in town, but I was also interested in looking for something in Newark itself. Looking on craigslist I see places like North Newark, Forest Hill, but I have no idea how close they are to campus and what the neighborhoods are like. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A Seattle radio station has been running the Bigger Dance for about a decade now. Its a 64 woman tournament, with a limited-time, on-air voting determining the winner of each matchup. The bracket was announced today, and the voting will commence April 12th. About 30k people enter every year, and 1st prize is a trip for 2 to ANY sporting event in the world (travel, tix, and accomodations). I've got nothing invested in the game, just though people outside the PNW might enjoy.

I was wondering if anyone is planning to attend the Rutgers Open House Mar. 29 or the Seton Hall events Mar. 30 & 31?
