How much is Yale Law worth? Will I have any negotiating power with their financial aid office?

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / What to ask when visiting schools
« on: February 02, 2008, 10:04:57 PM »
I remember a while back someone posted a list of questions that you should ask when visiting law schools.  Does anyone know where I can find this?  I can't find when I search.  If nothing else, what are you planning on asking when you visit?

I have a really hectic schedule and I'd like to visit schools, but I'm not sure how feasible it is for me to do so.  How important are the ASWs?  How much variation do they have between them?  Like, if I go to 2 or 3 am I going to feel like it was unnecessary because they're so similar?  I know most of it is about the vibe of the school and how you feel, but I can probably do this without going to the ASW, right?

Black Law Students / black community at harvard
« on: November 28, 2007, 05:48:52 PM »
how active is the black community at harvard? how is the black community in cambridge?  i come from a really diverse area and i've heard that cambridge/boston is pretty homogenous.  can anyone give insight on what it's like?

i applied about 3 weeks ago, but nothing yet. i've had all my other apps go complete already. anyone have their law school report requested by NYU yet?

is it possible to use the diversity statement as a place to discuss diversity of experience?

i'm 23 years old and i've spent my time since graduating college as a caregiver for my grandma (she has dementia) and working as an americorps vista working with the special needs community.

i'm thinking that it's a somewhat uncommon experience and gives me a perspective that would complement a law school class.  is it wrong to use the diversity statement this way?

i'm also an URM, but that's mentioned elsewhere in my application whereas the other stuff isn't talked about at all.

Incoming 1Ls / I hate the LSAC website
« on: July 05, 2007, 12:31:36 PM »
First, I'm a Mac user.  Which makes me hate it for being mac un-friendly.

However, I also use a PC, but I still can't get my omniform filler or active-x control to download properly.  It won't work on Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Netscape browsers. Is it because I'm using Windows XP????

Argghhhh.... why can't they hurry up and restructure their whole website so it doesn't make you go through a gazillion steps to apply for law school!?!?!? I know I'm not the only one who hates their website.  Feel free to vent!

Has anyone used essay writing resources such as essay edge?  If so, did you find it helpful?  When they gave feedback on your personal statement, which stage was it in before and after?  What are your recommendations for working with these resources?
