Financial Aid / very quick question
« on: February 05, 2007, 11:58:22 AM »
sorry if this has been asked before:

i've done fafsa and needaccess and i'll be mailing in the school specific forms. how do i know if the school has in fact received them all? do they notify me? or do i just wait blindly? i still have leftover paranoia from going "complete" (or inability to) from admissions. Thanks in advance.

Law School Admissions / PENN EA- urgent question
« on: December 12, 2006, 04:53:30 PM »
Hi everyone. i applied to penn early action and i wasn't aware how important this why penn essay seems to be. and actually, i thought they just wanted one of the three optional essays and just turned in a diversity statement. Now i'm sitting here so nervous about the upcoming decision and i started wondering if i'd be possible to send them a why penn essay now. i know this probably sounds crazy but at this point, it can't really hurt right? i don't think they would be annoyed, they would just throw my essay out at worst right?

so my question is, are there any very negative consequences you guys can forsee? if not, i'm just going to go ahead and email/fax them the essay (i've already written it) along with a cover/explanation sheet first thing tomorrow. i wasn't thinking much about penn before but now i'm actually quite interested so i am compelled to care a lot about this EA decision.

please share your thoughts.

Law School Admissions / LSDAS system failure!!
« on: November 15, 2006, 02:11:15 PM »
so i've been asking myself why three of my schools refuse to request the report and finally decided to call chicago to ask about it. this started a week long frustrated back and forth calls where chicago says they are using a new system where reports are automatically sent and lsdas says they absolutely need school requests. anyways, to make a long story short, it turns out that some schools are what are called "Beta" schools, referring to a new request system they use and there seems to be a cross wiring issue right now. UVa said that they have requested my report twice in a week and it does not go through to lsdas, or sometimes it goes to the wrong school.

is anyone else experiencing extremely long waits for requests? if it's over 2 weeks, i would call them up and ask about it. i thought i had just somehow screwed up my basic information somehow but uva said that this has been happening with quite a few people. i'm not sure which schools are beta schools. i'm sure chicago and uva are. since nyu also has not requested yet, i am assuming they are also beta.
