Law School Admissions / Continued Letter of Interest Worth It?
« on: February 04, 2008, 10:34:48 AM »
Is it worthwhile to write a continued letter of interest to a school who deferred you?  Did anyone have any positive (or negative...) experiences with this?

Law School Admissions / Columbia Dean Certification?
« on: November 26, 2007, 10:30:36 AM »
Do they not have this thing anymore?  I thought they were one of the schools that required a dean's certification and I don't see it anywhere on the application.  That would be a beautiful thing....

Law School Admissions / #s on NYU Waitlist?
« on: May 10, 2007, 09:28:25 AM »
Does anyone have any idea how many people are waitlisted at NYU?  And how many people actually get off the waitlist?  Or any guesses?

Curious.

General Off-Topic Board / I saw something that pissed me off
« on: May 08, 2007, 08:06:27 AM »
I was on the subway this morning and a VERY pregnant lady got on.  There were no seats and no one even moved to give her theirs when at least four people saw that she was standing.

What is wrong with people?  Seriously?  Am I crazy for being annoyed about this?

Most importantly: I don't really plan on leaving Manhattan.  Ever.  Or at least not after law school.  Potential problem?

If yes, what is your compromise?

It seems likely that a type of personality that is going to utilize sites like this and lawschoolnumbers.com is a little more driven (but not necessarily, I know, but likely) than the average applicant.  So, although it seems to fit, for the most part, with 25/75%iles for each school, do you think lawschoolnumbers.com is off by at least a little bit?  Like for example, maybe a point or two on the LSAT?  Or a tenth of a GPA point?  Like do you think the graph is raised a bit higher and a little further to the right of the actual accepted applicants due to the intensity and overachievement of those participating in things like lawschoolnumbers.com?  Or is it a fairly perfect indicator of general applicants?

Thoughts?

Law School Admissions / Number Lovers
« on: April 15, 2007, 12:54:04 PM »
So we (all think we) know that some schools are more renowned for supposedly focusing mainly on LSAT & GPA.  Which of the top 20 do you think are most likely to consider an applicant's *entire* application?  I mean, I know there will be exceptions at all schools, but which schools do you think are more likely to make more of these exceptions?  Thoughts?

Studying for the LSAT / Percentile
« on: March 06, 2007, 02:22:21 PM »
So do we think that when it comes down to it, ultimately, adcomms really don't give a *&^% about LSAT percentiles?

Studying for the LSAT / Black Powerscore Timer Resetting
« on: November 27, 2006, 02:04:42 PM »
I feel like a total tard admitting this, but with the black Powerscore timer I can't figure out how to restart the thing immediately after it stops counting down from the first time I set it for 35:00.  Like during the September exam I would start the thing about half a minute late into the section because after it counted down from the prior section, it would freeze for about half a minute and *then* I could start it again.

Yes, I did this during my actual exam.

Is there any way I can just restart it at 35:00 quickly so my timer is in synch?  Like some magical combination of buttons?  Am I missing something?

Feeling pretty ridiculous right now....

Hey All -

Not applying until the 2007-2008 cycle (just decided recently), but I had all of my recs processed with LSDAS this past summer thinking I'd be applying this year early.

Can I just let them sit there for a year and use them as is next cycle?

Thanks!
