They share the same spot in the rankings, but which one is generally considered better?

« on: January 14, 2008, 04:27:44 PM »
Welcome to the Penn Waitlist! Are you (pleasantly) surprised to be on it with your numbers?

Well, if last year's prictices repeat, most of us are on it for a looooong time of false hope, missed deadlines, and broken dreams. Share your pain and joy here.

How hard is it to get in-state tuition rates from Hastings?

Choosing the Right Law School / George Mason vs. Hastings
« on: January 13, 2008, 10:30:28 AM »
I've no idea about either of those schools. all I know is that they're pretty close in the rankings and starting private sector salaries. George Mason's focus is on economics, I hate math and cold weather. I'd love to practice in California and eventually live in SoCal, but know nothing about Hastings and their employment prospects. Please share your info.

Law School Admissions / Hastings LEOP
« on: October 17, 2007, 10:08:47 AM »
Hastings has some kind of a special admission programm for nontrads - Legal Ed. Opportunity Prog. (LEOP). The admission criteria is less demanding and those special ads get small group sessions, practice exams, etc. Is it worth applying under that program?

Law School Admissions / Early decisions
« on: October 11, 2007, 05:53:07 PM »
What happens to a schmuck that applies to several schools under their binding early decision programs and gets accepted to more than one? What are the sanctions for turning down the early decision offers?

... especially the grammar/punctuation/syntax.

Be very harsh

Choosing the Right Law School / 4.0/162; a shot at T16?
« on: October 07, 2007, 10:39:21 PM »
I plugged my numbers into the LSAC calc and it gives me 15-30% chances for T16 schools. So, if I apply to a dozen of them, I should get into a couple, is that so?

I would especially like to go to a California school (not a CA resident though). UCLA and USC are my top choices.

I'm white, but do have a wildcard: growing up and going to law school in a former Soviet Union. PS/LoRs/resume are good.

So, should I be able to get into a T16 after applying to just about every school in it?
