Incoming 1Ls / Think twice or several times before going to law school
« on: November 25, 2013, 09:20:50 PM »
For several years I vacillated about going to law school for several reasons. One of the reasons is that I kept hearing that it was not worth it, and it was not all what it seems.  I therefore decided to go to paralegal school and see what it was like. Honestly I am so glad I did not spend all that time and money studying to become a lawyer.  It is not as prestigious as one would think.  In my opinion it is boring, and once you know the routine and rules of your local court you literally become a paper pusher and filer.  It is a shame that law school is so expensive, since the new attorneys know nothing about practicing law, and are talked down to by experienced paralegals.  These same attorneys also seem like little puppies waiting for a bone to be tossed to them by the more senior attorneys.  Some you will continue your journey towards becoming a lawyer and all I can of luck.

Online Law Schools / Taft, ALU, Concord

I went back to 2007 FYLSE to the present, and it appears that Taft beat out Concord by a tad.  I looked at who had the highest percentage for "1st time takers" and the highest percentage under the column "All".

I did the same with the CA Bar Exam and Concord students clearly our performed Taft and ALU students in having the highest passing percentage rate when considering both columns, First Time Takers and Repeaters.

Any opinions on ALUSL? I understand they were CHEA accredited last year. As a result I heard they will start offering Federal Student Loans to their law student sometime later this year.

Studying for the LSAT / LSAT means nothing in the big picture

I have spoken to, and read on what some lawyers have said about the LSAT. For the most part it has nothing to do on how successful you are in law school and in your law practice.  Now this is my opinion: Just another money making idea, and to place another obstacle for students that want to go into a field that already has to many lawyers.  For those on the fence become a paralegal and you will make decent pay if you are good and the demand for paralegals is actually higher than lawyers because they do similar work for a much cheaper price.

I would like to get feedback from people who have taken the Baby Bar and have passed.  In other words, why do up think you were successful?
