Studying for the LSAT / December LSAT for second time applications
« on: August 30, 2004, 06:39:57 PM »
It's been over a year since I took my first LSAT (June 2003) and I applied to school this fall and have decided not to attend any schools (the few that I got into) due to health problems. I plan on reapplying for the Fall 2005 semester and was thinking about re-taking the LSAT. My first Lsat score did not reflect my practice test score range (162-172). I ended up getting a 156. Should I re-take the Lsat? Or should I just re-apply with more recommendations, a different personal statement and a unique health problem?

I was waitlisted at my top two schools and was also wondering whether I should not take the Lsat and apply early or take the Lsat and apply a little later. I'm a bit confused right now on what the best strategy is. If anyone can give some advice I would greatly appreciate it.

General Off-Topic Board / Why am I here?
« on: June 13, 2004, 01:47:30 PM »
No this is not a philosophical question... more like, why the hell am i at the office catering to some procrastinating attorneys who like to file things at the very last minute on the nicest day of the week?

Ugh. I was sick on friday and this is how i finish my weekend. in the office with artificial air being pumped into my already sick body. I look like I live in a fort with the boxes full of useless documents piled on my desk. I could die from bloodloss due to the multitude of paper cuts or suffocation if some papers fell on me.

Don't mind me. I'll just sit here and try to stab myself with an envelope opener. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Law School Applications / Dilemma... please advise
« on: June 02, 2004, 11:54:50 AM »
Ok seriously... I have quite a dilemma and i'm not quite sure how I should do this...

I got waitlisted at Kent... which actually was my second choice out of the 10 schools I applied to. I already sent them a continued letter of interest and two additional recommendations from work. I want to see if I can go and talk to the Assistant Dean about my Waitlist status but I'm not quite sure how I should bring this up. Should I call her or should I just email to ask for a meeting?

Also, if admitted to Kent I would try to defer, not because I want to work more (please God no) but because I've been having very bad back problems (just had my last hospital visit) and may need surgery late fall... I don't think I should go to law school this fall when my health problems may hurt my studies (also I need the insurance). I realize that most schools don't grant one year deferrments for people who get in after waitlisted. Should I bring this up with the Dean if I meet with her??

i'm really confused right now. I don't know what I should do anymore.
Since you guys are so good with advice and suggestions, I decided to post here.. Thanks everyone!  :)

General Off-Topic Board / Crusty man
« on: June 02, 2004, 10:24:48 AM »
Just wanted to share that there's this old man (looks respectable) who "reads" Seventeen magazines on the bus... now I assume he is at least 65 years old... the first time I saw him with Seventeen I thought maybe it was for his prepubescent grandaughter... today I saw him on the bus and he had another seventeen magazine. i don't want to sit next to him next time.

Would you sit next to a very old man who reads a Seventeen magazine??

Oh and Jew-Lo, I have this horrible dookie (poop) story... I swear where I work there are too many old women taking metamucil or something because I always seem to get a nice visual of their turds in the bathroom.. for the LOVE OF GOD doesn't anyone ever flush anymore????   ???

Studying for the LSAT / What else can i do?
« on: May 26, 2004, 12:18:32 PM »
I took the June Lsats last year, applied this year and didn't get into the schools I wanted to go to.

I decided to take the Lsats again (Oct) and reapply. I was wondering what else I could do to help my score. The last time I studied for the Lsats, I studied for several months (4) and took well over 25 real Lsat exams, timed.... for awhile I would spend a majority of my studying at the U of C library after work and weekends with my trusty timer and Real Lsat book and individual exams (from LSAC, those poops who like to overcharge)

Anyways, my range was from 156 to 172 (large range I know... but the scores were getting higher with time). I was averaging at least a 164 on most of my exams. Of course test time comes and I get the LOWEST score in my range.  >:(

I was wondering what else could I do, or should I do to study again for my October Lsat. I was thinking a prep class, but I'm not sure which one. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...  ;D
