First one down, two to go. I'm taking the rest of the day off.

I know we mentioned this in one of the old posts. The Law School's home page has a link to an article http://www.utexas.edu/law/news/2006/112006_sager.html that actually answers the question of ballpark salaries for UT Law professors.
Starting salaries for new "faculty" average around $125K.
Dean Sager himself earns $340K.
The Orientation Packet has been posted on the FreshLaw site. It is under one of the links at the top from the existing Orientation page.
It looks like it is just a compilation of mostly pre-existing data. I didn't notice anything of special note while glancing through it.

Well, front page news for the UT Law website. I don't think I've seen anyone else mentioned up there yet. Congratulations! I wonder how many students get the honor of their own write-up.
Someone on the official boards posted we can start using the gyms and such on Friday this week (I believe). In preparation for this, does anyone have some information they can dispense on the facilities?
Lockers: Are there lockers we can rent in one or the other of the gyms so we can store our clothes in there?
Clothes: Is it all bring your own clothes and towels and store them in a locker? (My UG had you check out mandatory gym clothes, which was nice because then they would wash it all for you, and you never had to store sweaty clothes in your locker.)
On the first day of Orientation there is a chunk of the afternoon when you have three options you can do.
1. Attend the Student Organization fair.
2. Watch movies.
3. Join in a Book Discussion group led by a professor.
If you want to do #3 you have till 21. August to sign up for a group and hope to be selected. There are some law related books, some Shakespeare, and a few classic books (such as Scarlet Letter).
I'm section 1D. It looks like we're all sharing the Property, and Con Law I class, and then we divide into smaller sections for the Torts class.

Round Rock's fireworks were postponed due to the rain on the 4th. They'll be going off tomorrow instead. It will be done in conjunction with the already planned movie in the park (Curious George). It should be a good event for Pyro's and monkey lovers alike.
I was just browsing the UT site again, and realized something for the first time. Since the society program started in 2004, it appears they have only done it with entering classes, and not placed the old classes in societies. Thus the 4 societies they create will be entirely new societies and we will be the first graduating class from those societies (I am assuming they'll end up reusing the names after the classes graduate).

I found this site back when I was still applying to law schools, and have read various essays located here. I find them fairly informative.
