Pre-Law in high school / Should I have lots of ECs or should I just focus on one of two?

I'm going to start university this fall. so just want to get some advice from you guys.
should I try everything in university (music, sports, newspaper, bla...)or should i just focus on one or two and do them really well?
I want to give everything a try, because i like lots of these activities. but it sounds like a waste of time to do lots of things. plus i'm very likely to study engineering, i think i really need lots of time to study,
really don't know how to plan? what do you guys think

Oh Canada! / Do American schools discriminate Canadian schools?

How come there are so little UofT students admitted to Harvard? like 5,6 peole every year. They even accept more students from some less-known American schools than from UofT. is it simply because less students from uoft apply to those top schools or is it they don't really want Canadians...?

What I mean by "normal" is that I'm not a world-ranked athlete nor a famous musician, ect. I'm just a normal person
I'm not in university yet. but just wondering, What stats, EC should some normal persons like me have in order to get into Harvard?
