Incoming 1Ls / Who's going to Syracuse?

Hi! I'm just wondering who else is going to Syracuse, and when people are moving up there.

Choosing the Right Law School / Syracuse or UCONN?
« on: April 11, 2006, 09:49:59 AM »
I sent my deposit to Syracuse, but now I am wondering if I should go to UCONN instead, and I only have a few days left before the UCONN deposit is due - please help!!

Here is my situation: I have no financial aid from UCONN. I had a situation with my taxes and didn't get to file until March because I was waiting for some forms. Long story. So I will not be getting any aid from UCONN or Syracuse. I do live in Mass, so I would get the New England compact state rate at UCONN for the first year, and after that in-state tuition. So based on UCONN's estimates, I'll neet to borrow $110K over three years to go there. I have a $27,800 a year scholarship at Syracuse, so if I keep that for all three years I'd need to borrow about $65K over three years. So UCONN would definitely cost a lot more.

I don't want to do BigLaw, so paying back the debt won't be very easy and is a big concern. I am 27, and I'd like to be able to buy a house shortly after getting out of school, so the less debt the better.

Please help!

General Off-Topic Board / How often do you play hooky from work?

General Off-Topic Board / In search of the world's best WINGS...

Where, in your opinion, are the world's best wings (or boneless "wings," for those of us who prefer less mess)?

I love the boneless wings at Hooters. Not too hot, but with some kick. And lots of blue cheese.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Waitlisted at BU

What are the chances that I'll get off the waitlist?

I'm curious, how many people are going to a school that isn't the "best" (in rankings) that they got into? Why did you make that decision?

My options:
BU - waitlisted
Case - $20k/year
UCONN - no $
Syracuse - $27,800/year
Quinnipiac - $25k/year
Cleveland-Marshall - free in-state tuition
WNEC - full tuition

I'm going to Syracuse, unless I mail a seat deposit to another school in the next few days. I chose Syracuse partially because of geography and partially because I got a bigger scholarship there than at Case.

Incoming 1Ls / How old is old for a 1L?
« on: March 27, 2006, 03:29:48 AM »
It's been a few years since undergrad, and I am starting to feel very old. In your opinion, at what age do you consider someone to be an older 1L? How do you think my experience will be different as an older 1L (if in fact that is what I am)? I'm starting to feel very self-conscious about my age...

Incoming 1Ls / Syracuse class of 2009

So who else is going to Syracuse? I'm starting the apartment search now, and I'm wondering if people have any clue where they're going to be living, what neighborhoods are good/bad, etc. Is anyone considering living in a suburb, or do people want to be very close to campus? I'd love to be only five to ten minutes away from school, but after living in a city for the past two years I'd really love to live in the suburbs.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Syracuse or Case or...?

I already sent my seat deposit to Syracuse, but I'm wondering what people think about my decision. Where would you go with the following school/scholarship options?

Syracuse = $27,800
Case = $20,000
UCONN = $0 (I live in MA so I would get somewhat reduced tuition)
WNEC = full tuition
Quinnipiac = $25,000
Cleveland-Marshall = full in-state tuition
