Non-Traditional Students / Um...about those computer thingies...

I have this mental picture of me showing up to the first day of class and whipping out my trusty pen and notebook while other students look on with bemused contempt. I'm not exactly computer illiterate, but when I was in undergrad nobody even had cell phones, much less laptops. Is taking notes in class the old-fashioned way a thing of the past? I'm starting to think maybe my Trapper Keeper isn't so cool after all

I'm interested in public interest, criminal and labor law. I'd like to be in the city and I would be able to live rent free in Park Slope. I know Brooklyn has the better rep, but the $$ is really tempting. Would commuting to Hempstead from Brooklyn be feasible? Any input would be appreciated.

Any one know a good source for finding the grading profiles for a school? For scholarship purposes I'd like to know what percentile a 3.25 GPA at Hofstra would leave you in. Any help/links would be great...
