I'll be moving to another city for the summer. I have a dog, and I was wondering if anyone else has brought their pet with them to the big city for the summer? I'd rather not leave her with friends/relatives, but I also think that not having to care for her over the summer will free me up more to participate in summer activities with the firm.

I'm on a secondary journal and I need to submit a note topic... and I'm stuck.... any direction on where to find ideas? The topic must relate to entertainment and/or technology. Thanks for any guidance, resources, etc.! If you have a topic idea, feel free to throw it out there!!! Thanks again!

How are you transfers listing the change in the Educaton section on your resume?
I was thinking maybe something like this? ABC LAW SCHOOL, City, State J.D. Anticipated, DATE • Transferred after first year at XYZ SCHOOL OF LAW XYZ SCHOOL OF LAW, City, State Attended DATE - DATE • XYZ Journal of Underwater Basket Weaving Litigation Member • Dean's List, Top X%..... DFG College, City, State B.S. 2006 • etc. etc. etc. Thoughts? Any advice on this? 7

Transferring / Vandy or Texas« on: July 19, 2008, 10:02:30 AM »
I'm pretty torn over this decision. Any thoughts? I've visited both schools.
I got a really good feel from Vandy, but I know Austin a little better and I have friends at UT. On the other hand, Vandy = more personal attention; whereas Texas = large state school. In looking at NALP, they get about the same number of firms recruiting there. I'm not necessarily interested in practicing in TX (the big problem is that I don't know WHERE I want to practice; probably SE/NE). I was really impressed with Vandy's admin and career services, but I have a mtg with UT's career svcs on Monday. Anyway, obviously at the end of the day you can't go wrong with either school, but I still want to make sure I pick the right environment for me. I've always gone to large public schools, so Vandy is very appealing as a welcome change. However, UT was my top choice when I applied to law schools. I don't have any family in TX, but I lived there for 2 years. 9

I'm interested in general feedback regarding some of my 1L summer work offer so far-->
1) Unpaid internship with an advocacy group on Capitol Hill. Flexible scheduling, incl. opp for split summer. 2) Unpaid internship with JAG in Northern VA 3) Paid Research Ass't w/a law professor at my law school in an area of personal interest w/in the law I did find out from my school that I may be able to create an externship #1 and #2. (Previously I thought there weren't). However, I'll be paying out-of-state tuition for the privilege of taking out more loans. In addition, I will be continuing to pay rent on my apt at school for the summer (subleasing/breaking lease are not options). No family $ assistance available. Of the three, which would you do? I'm just looking for other's perspective; it won't necessarily factor into my decision-- just curious. Thanks! |
