Current Law Students / your school decision
« on: November 15, 2006, 08:51:37 PM »
so.......after all that time deciding where to go to school, you've picked a school and your partway through your first semester, or in my case through your first quarter.

so, the question now is, are you glad with your choice?  do u feel like your choice of a T14 was a a good choice.  Are you glad u opted for the lower ranked school and scholarship or to be closer to be home?

do you feel like your getting the best education possible?

do u have aspirations of transfering?

Current Law Students / Just Passing?
« on: October 23, 2006, 07:40:43 PM »
maybe its fear of exams, fear that i just dont get it, or fear that everyone else is smarter than me, but does anyone else worry not about making top 10% but just passing?

I look around my classes and everyone is amazingly smart.  i'm really quite amazed.  i'm working harder than i ever have before but sometimes i worry whether or not i have any clue whats going on.

anyone else feel like this?

any advice?

Current Law Students / Black's Law Dictionary
« on: August 21, 2006, 01:27:13 PM »
what is the opinion on Black's Law Dictionary?  is it something that is necessary?  is the pocket edition sufficient or should u spend the money and get the unabridged version?  have the editions changed much in the past few years?  or is it essentially the same book being printed every year?

and finally, is the book even necessary? or is it all availably online?  is it easier to access it that way or do u prefer to look the stuff up online?

Current Law Students / classes adding another section?
« on: June 29, 2006, 11:21:38 AM »
rumor has it that my school got a lot more people to accept admission offers than expected and much higher than the average rate.  as a result they have blown past the size class they were shooting for and are now contemplating adding more sections to deal with the added students.

have you ever heard of this happening?  that a school underestimated the response from acceptances so much so that they had to add another 1 to 2 sections?

do u think its a good sign or bad sign?

Current Law Students / what exactly is public interest law?
« on: June 23, 2006, 08:12:52 AM »
i know there are lots of things that a lawyer can do to help serve the public, but what are they?  representing charity organizations or something? but what exactly are you doing when your working in public interest?

is your job essentially the same as a lawyer working for a firm but u support those with less money (and you make less money)? or is there a significant difference between what a lawyer at a firm does and what a public interest lawyer does.

Current Law Students / how much drinking?
« on: June 19, 2006, 12:22:49 PM »
so i hear that alot of law schools have thursday night happy hour events or some type of activity to release some of the stress of law school.  but how often do you guys drink?  do most law students take a day a week to get loaded and party?  or is it just every once in a while.

Current Law Students / first day of class
« on: June 19, 2006, 11:38:28 AM »
so for alot of people the first day is getting close, 2 months or so away!

anyway, what are peoples experience with the first day of classes.  how did your schools orientation program run and what should people be expected for day 1 of law school.  should i bring my helmet and camoflauge to prepare for the battlefield of law school, or should i wear my flip flops and waltz in with a drink with an umbrella in it?  how nervous was everyone and was anyone out there the first one to be called on?
