Incoming 1Ls / Going to GMU =)
« on: April 29, 2004, 09:48:36 AM »
I'm very happy to be accepted into George Mason University Law School.  When I visited, I liked the atmosphere and even the building a lot.  Only thing is, the undergraduate school is sort of known as a weak school (3rd tier) so a lot of people are somewhat disappointed when I tell them where I'm going.  A lot of people seem to be ignorant when it comes to law schools and rankings, unless it's a big name Ivy League or something.

Either way, can't wait

Law School Admissions / What are the options for financial aid?
« on: April 22, 2004, 11:34:11 AM »
I haven't filed my FAFSA yet, and if it's too late, I'd like to know that there are other options.  Are there loans that are not school-related that are available?  I would imagine so, since it's like a business and the more people taking loans from them the more money they make.

I'm going to file FAFSA ASAP, but in case it's too late to apply for aid with the schools....just wanna know what my options are.  Thanks guys

I got wait-listed at George Mason University (VA) and won't be hearing back from them until after May 15th.  Is getting wait-listed like a 50% chance, 25% chance, or a "don't get your hopes up Skippy"-kind of chance?

GMU is ranked #38 in the latest USNEWS report, but I'm thinking I might just wanna go out-of-state to either Rutger-Newark, St. John's, or Loyola Chicago.

Studying for the LSAT / The night before the LSAT...
« on: April 21, 2004, 09:47:22 AM »
It's hard enough trying to fall asleep the night before the test, with all your nerves and thoughts of what can go wrong...

But my roommates decided to invite a bunch of people over that night for a mock-"Iron Chef" competition!!  So here they were, all yelling and having a blast, with me trying to goto sleep to take the most important test of my life.  I eventually came out and asked them to quiet down or go elsewhere...they were nice about it, went upstairs to someone else's apartment...but I could hear it through the ceiling!  Either way, I got a 161 (which was about 5 points lower than my average practice test score) and was very disappointed.  I took the test a second time in Oct. 03, and scored a 169.  8-point improvement is pretty big!  If only I didn't have that lower score, bringing my average down and making my 169 look more suspicious... =(

I've gotten accepted into three Tier 2 schools, but am undecided where to go.  Based on prestige, marketability in that region and elsewhere (if I decide to move), career prospects, etc etc...where would you find it most practical to go and why?  Thanks
