I am curious. I could not get out of work to go there. Who went to the admitted students' day, and what was your impression? Thanks!

OK, so I was thinking of going to American until I received my financial aid package today.
It was insulting. Nevermind the measly grant, but the Stafford loans barely hit $9k.
This means they expect me to take out private loans for over $40,000.
Other schools have at least given me the max allowed Stafford loans plus a decent grant.
I realize American only does need-based aid, but my EFC is $10k so I still need $43,000!
I've (sort of) narrowed it down to these two choices (except for waitlists), for various reasons. I want to do government work when I'm done. Should I stay in DC and go to American? I also have friends and a boyfriend here in DC, so that is making things a bit murky. If Georgetown let me in off their preferred WL, I would certainly go there. Ahhhh!!!
As of January 20, applicants are down 10.1% from this time last year. That may sound like good news, but two weeks ago it was 11.2%, so there were more apps this week.
