General Board / Anyone goes to Seattle U?« on: March 22, 2006, 04:46:55 PM »
Hi, for those who go to SU, I would like to know what your experience is like especially after the average grading curve changed to B(3.0?). Also, how is SU's career prospect in Seattle? I'm thinking about going there.

Where should I go next fall? / Willamette vs. Idaho ($)« on: April 13, 2007, 06:19:53 PM »
I have been accepted at Willamette (no money) and Idaho ($5,000 upon maintaining 1/3 of class). My goal is to practice either in Seattle or Portland. I don't think I want to live in Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon or Idaho after school for work. For that reason, I know Willamette will serve me better but that scholarship at UI plus the low tuition from being a public school is really tempting. Can anyone give me an advice? Thanks.

Financial Aid / Some questions about financial aids for a newbie« on: March 07, 2007, 01:00:35 AM »
So I have finished sending all my information on FAFSA and received an e-mail recently that it sent my information to all schools I listed. These are dumb questions since I have never done this before and I would really appreciate your patience and answers.
 - What should I expect to happen next? - Will FAFSA contact me to let me know how much loan they will give me? - My family has been financially underachieving. Will I be able to receive any grants? Are grants free money? Do I receive grants from FAFSA or schools (Since each school has information on grant-receiving percentages on lsac, I assumed maybe it's the school that gives me the grants.)? - FAFSA uses the term "financial aid" and that's what filling out the form is for - to receive financial aids. So this term financial aid is actually just referring to federal loans, not free money, right? 4

So far I have been accepted at Willamette and Idaho. My goal is to practice in Seattle and I wonder which school would serve me better. As of now, I am still waiting to hear from Seattle and Gonzaga. If I get into Seattle, it will be a no brainer that I will go there eventhough getting into Gonzaga might still be an unclear solution to the best career option for working in Seattle. Idaho is cheap since it's a public institution but I wonder how well the degree will be recongnized in Seattle compared to a degree from Willamette or Gonzaga.
One interesting thing that I found, after searching through attorney profiles at big and medium law firms in Seattle, is that I saw a lot of Willamette Law School alumni than alumni of Gonzaga and Idaho. Idaho grads were almost invisible. Maybe they do exist in smaller law firms. I do understand that those three schools are all regional tier three so making into top 10% is essential for biglaw. But why does such trend exist in Seattle firms that I see more Willamette grads than Gonzaga grads although Gonzaga is in state so should be better recognized by employers? I will appreciate your input.

Law School Applications / Should I apply now?« on: December 06, 2006, 02:32:18 PM »
All my applications are ready to be sent in except for my last LOR has not been received yet by LSAC. My recommender sent in the letter last Tuesday so I am guessing LSAC will receive it update that they received it on my LOR status section pretty soon. If I send my applications now, my understanding is that schools will require reports few days later. Hopefully by the time, my letter will arrive and I can save some time by not waiting until I check if the letter arrives first. Do you guys recommend doing this? Could there be any problems with this plan?

LSAT- 152 (bump, I got like 3-4 points lower than I expected) GPA - 3.19 (Top Public) Diversity - Asian immigrant since high school, first one to go to college in the family Experience - load of community services, work during college, 2 years of WE Seattle Gonzaga Willamatte Oregon Denver Southwestern Chapman
