Where should I go next fall? / Iowa Scholarship

Yay...finally some good news after a long dry spell.
Anyone else get notice of a scholarship offer from Iowa yesterday? It's definitely a tempting offer, financially speaking. The strings attached: $$ is contingent on agreeing to serve as a research assistant to a professor during 2nd and 3rd years. It's unclear how much flexibility there is with that in terms of, e.g., being able to choose the professor, or possibility of substituting journal commitments for research assistance. If any 0L or current student has the scoop on this, do tell!
