Law School Admissions / White Males URM
« on: April 22, 2004, 11:15:30 AM »
I thought some of you might find this funny: I was talking to a friend of mine last night who I roomed with at O.U. and he told me he got a full ride for his masters in Special Education because he was a URM as a male in that field.  I just started laughing and he couldn't believe that he got a scholarship for being male. so I guess it works both ways, huh.  BTW he isn't what I would call a stellar student. In fact, I am convinced he only wanted to be a teacher in the first place so he can have summers off.  anyway, I thought this board might find that interesting.

Studying for the LSAT / What happens when you cancel a score
« on: April 13, 2004, 11:06:21 AM »
Hey guys I have a few quick questions.  What happens when you cancel your score?  Does it show up on your LSDAS report...I assume it does.  How much does that hurt you, if at all?  Is that something used as a tie breaker between two otherwise equally qualified candidates, or do they look at that from the get go?

Also, what happens to your GPA when they convert it...does everybody's drop, or does it just depend on whether you were on qtrs or semesters?  I went to two qtr schools.

Sorry for all of the questions, but I would appreciate any feedback

Studying for the LSAT / What are my chances at OSU with a 157
« on: April 12, 2004, 06:24:35 AM »
Hello all, I just recently ran across this site and I must say it is at least somewhat comforting to know others are anxious as well.  I was womdering if any or all of you would be willing to size me up and tell me how I stand or what I need to do to get into Ohio State (or if I even have a chance etc), so here's to low-down.

27 years old, 3.76 undergrade GPA from state school, 4.00 GPA in MPA program at another state school. Two years work experience in County-level Economic Development. First diag 147.  OSU says that the median LSAT is big are the ranges, does that mean if I can raise my LSAT by 10 pts (something I think is doable since I got a 4 on the games the first time) that puts me at 157 and in the range?  or do I need a 161.  I am a white male, no extra curiculars that would particularly stand out.

any help would be appreciated.
