Finally got a decent draft done, and I'd love to have some eyes on it. If you'd like someone to read yours, I'd be happy to take a look at it, too. If not, I'll just PM mine over to you. Thanks much!!

Law School Admissions / Traffic Tickets
« on: October 21, 2009, 02:19:11 AM »
So...I'm not the best driver. I have a handful of tickets, some of which are stupid and then one where I really was speeding a little too fast.

2 schools want me to explain these. Should I just say I got the ticket and why I got it, or should I actually reflect and try to make a moral lesson out of each and every one?

And how should I format this?

Law School Admissions / Resume

Is there a deviation from typical professional formats to use for law schools? Reverse chron order with academics first?

Also...should I include my LSAC number on it? Don't have a copy of Ivey's book anymore and can't remember her advice, or whether she's even legit/valid.

Law School Admissions / Mail Call: What are they thinking?

Got a postcard from Penn State today...

with their football schedule.

Now, I don't know about you, but a football team is going to be the last thing to persuade me to attend a law school.

(That said, I REALLY hope I get into the University of Washington because I dearly miss sitting in the student section during games...and after the USC upset, the idea is sounding very sweet.)

Studying for the LSAT / my plastic bag
« on: September 18, 2009, 10:41:03 PM »
1. should I hit the back-to-school aisle and find the cheesiest, most ridiculous Disney-star ladden pencils I can find (I'm thinking a combo pack of Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers)...

...or stick with yellow #2?

2. has anyone had success bringing a nalgene bottle into the testing room?

3. and maybe this would work in my favor, but I don't want to scare any men in the room, and I'll be so unlucky as to require hygeine products in my (clear) plastic bag on testing day (as if I could have planned that better, I know.). this is actually really bothering me, and I can't think of a solution.

Studying for the LSAT / September or December
« on: August 29, 2009, 11:11:23 PM »
I'm not new to the LSAT...scored a 154 in 2005. Long story, and I'm applying to schools again for next fall. I'm studying with powerscore's books now, and have just finished the RC and LR bibles. Taking practice sections individually, and without any attempt to further improve, I'm getting about -5 a section. I haven't even started the games, but those shouldn't be a huge problem for me.

I have nothing against either ramping it up and still taking it in September, or taking it in December. Would December hurt me in admissions in any way? My goal is 165, I'd obviously love to hit higher. It's especially crucial because I really could use some scholarship money.

Thanks :)

Law School Admissions / How Long Do Schools Keep Applications?
« on: August 02, 2009, 11:27:49 PM »
So I applied to a few...dozen...schools in 2005-2006. Long story short, I dropped out of the school I chose 2 weeks into it and now, after taking some time to work and gain some life experience, I'm planning on applying to 2 of them again this fall for '10, and then another 4 more.

How long do schools keep applications in general? And how accessible will my "old" information (application and PS, I know LSAT and LSAC is available) be to other schools should they choose to dig?
