I just declined offers of admissions from Duke, UVA, George Washington, UCLA, Cornell and Notre Dame. Hope this frees up a spot for somebody else here.

Law School Applications / NeedAccess Help
« on: February 20, 2006, 01:38:14 AM »
If my parents were never divorced, do I still need to fill out the Divorced Parents' Section of the NeedAccess? Or should I just do the Parents' section?

Acceptances / NYU and Michigan Admits
« on: December 30, 2005, 03:11:02 AM »
Michigan:

Anybody recieved any other packets after the acceptance packet? I heard people have recieved housing forms already, but I have nil.

NYU:

Anyone have luck with the admitted students' website? I would like to contact the assistant dean for admissions but that information was not provided in the acceptance letter as it usually is for other schools...

Law School Applications / Crap Criminal Record Problem
« on: December 18, 2005, 05:34:03 PM »
So this is rather embarassing...there was this other thread on this board that mentioned the criminal history requirements for the T30 law schools, and I was very surprised to see that NYU was listed as one of the schools that ask you for charges too, not just convictions.

Last year I was charged with disorderly conduct (stupid story), turned out they thought I was drunk when I actually wasn't, so the charges were droppe. Anyways, I would have defineatly mentioned this to NYU had I read their application a bit more thoroughly, but I thought only Cornell and Duke out of the T14 asked for charges as well as convictions.

Well now that I've been accepted to NYU, I'm at a dilemma...I didn't particularly want to attend NYU, but I also don't want to get stung with a rescinding offer of admissions. What should I do? If I write them a letter are they pretty much going to ding me?

Law School Applications / How Good Are These Soft Factors?
« on: December 15, 2005, 01:14:50 AM »
Attended US Military Academy (West Point), graduated as honor graduate from the Army Airborne School, Mountain Warfare School, won all sorts of military competitions, active duty for over a year, honorablly discharged due to a serious illness (which I almost died from and had to be treated for while concurrently finishing up my undergraduate degree)...my numbers are a tad low for H/Y/S...

Just wondering whether my soft factors could make up for scores that are below the median at H/Y/S. Thanks in advance.

LSAC and LSDAS / LSAC Application Preview Question...
« on: December 07, 2005, 05:25:32 PM »
I remember when I was submitting my applications and attaching essays etc...I would hit the "preview" button, and while for some things I would get a good PDF preview, but for other files I would get a blank page....I submitted it anyways assuming it to be a problem with my browser..

Anyways, I then went back and reviewed the completed copy of my transmitted application, and everything came up OK...saw all the documents I had attached in PDF format...

So should I be concerned over this? Are my law schools recieving a bunch of blank pages, or did they get everything OK?

Law School Applications / Financial Aid Box
« on: November 29, 2005, 11:32:30 PM »
When I applied to my law schools, I misinterpreted the financial aid section of the application (I thought it was asking whether I was planning on applying for aid NOW, rather than later) so I checked “No," I'm not applying for financial aid.

Does that mean I can't apply for financial aid anymore? And I was also wondering if my checking of that box precludes me from any merit-based financial awards.

Where should I go next fall? / Georgetown opinions
« on: November 29, 2005, 05:30:33 PM »
I think very highly of this school, but it's relatively low on the USNews rankings...I'm wondering what people who have already been accepted think of this place.

Also, how easy is it to fund your education at Georgetown? Are they good about giving out loans?
