General Off-Topic Board / Curious Question about Obama's Nominee
« on: May 10, 2010, 11:13:04 AM »
So from my understanding, Kagan"s (new supreme court nominee) current position is that of U.S. Solicitor General.  Well I wasn't quite sure what the duties of her position entailed, so I did some very brief research (like really 5 minutes), but her duties seemed to me to be very similar to those of what I thought the attorney general's to be.  So If someone could please clarify to me the difference between the duties of the solicitor general and the attorney general,  it would be most helpful

General Board / For Everyone That Hates Their Roomate!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: April 14, 2010, 12:18:47 AM »
Please join in the venting session if your roomate sucks a**!  This post was inspired by my roomate whom I hate, because she's a self-centered female dog who refuses to clean up behind herself.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Do these schools want to deny me?
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:23:58 PM »
So I've been getting a ton of fee waivers, some of which have been from schools where my numbers aren't incredily compatible.  Do you suppose the schools just want me to apply so they can't get app. #'s up?  Perhaps they already know I will be denied and are using me so that they can claim to to be more competitive or exlcusive?

Studying for the LSAT / Important question about the LSAT
« on: January 25, 2010, 02:21:32 PM »
okay so I have this ridiculous habit of mouthing the words I'm reading, when I'm trying to read speedily. Now I do this in silence with my head turned completely down and my eyes about 4inches from the paper, so I don't think this would bother anyone.  My concern is that I often do this without even realizing it sometimes, and I wonder if this will get me in trouble on testing day?

General Board / OMG so many suicidal lawyers out there!
« on: October 16, 2009, 09:50:04 AM »
I was just checking out JDunderground.com and it is so bleeping  depressing.  I swear it seems like everybody there wants to off themselves at any minute.  It kind of makes me wonder is this what lies ahead for me when I finally finish school and get out into the job market?  But then I think again and wonder if they are just losers from the bottom of their class?  Don't misunderstand me I know the market is tough, but geez!  :o

General Board / Questions About Recommendations
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:44:50 PM »
I intend to send my applications in January after I get my LSAT Score (Yeah I know its super late).  What I am wondering is what is an appropriate time to ask a professor for a recommendation?  Should it be 2mos. before? 2wks?
Also, I plan to apply to like 8 different schools, should I ask my professor for 8 different letters? or can I make copies myself and send them?

Law School Applications / GUNNER to be.........
« on: September 09, 2009, 03:08:05 PM »
Omg so I have this guy in my Judicial Process class who constantly spouts off these pointless hypotheticals, and relentlessly tries to prove the professor wrong.  Don't get me wrong I can appreciate meaningful contributions, but he just talks to be talking!  I find him highly annoying!  Is this really the type of behavior I can expect when I finally get to law school.  I just don't know how I'm going to tolerate the rest of the semester.  He irritates the professor and causes class to move along so slowly, until the professor shuts him up that is! OH the flustration... ERR!  >:(

Okay well I've been studying for the LSAT for 5wks now and I'm still having trouble focusing on the questions enough to do them in a desirable time frame.  I often end up completely zoning out. After every 2 or 3 questions I find myself staring into space. It took me over an hour to get through 26 arguments. I don't plan to take the test until December, but I fear that my speed will never increase.  Did anyone else have this problem? If so how did you deal with it?
