If other African Americans get URM status why don't North African Arabs (Egyptians, Libyans, Moroccans, etc).  Basically, it seems as if law schools are telling us that our skin is not dark enough to qualify for URM status

Incoming 1Ls / I speak Arabic - what type of law to study

What type of law would most utilize my Arabic fluency?  Immigration law? Civil law? Corporate?

3.39 GPA

160 LSAT

I live in Chicago and want to stay in Chicago

I was thinking about applying to DePaul, Loyola, and Kent.  I think U of I is out of my range. Anything else?  I don't want to pay out of state tuition unless I can get a decent scholarship that makes up for the increased tuition.

Any ideas on other places I should apply?

Law School Admissions / Apply now with 1 LOR or wait for #2?
« on: October 27, 2009, 12:00:30 PM »

I want to apply to Depaul in Chicago.  They were one of the schools I was considering and recently they sent me a fee waiver which I assume means they are interested in me and there is potential for scholarships.  Depaul only requires 1 LOR, and I currently have 1 from my boss at work and the other is from a professor but that wont be in until the last week in November.

Should I go ahead and apply now with only one LOR or should I wait until I Get the second from my professor.  I don't know what is more important applying early, or having 2 LORs.  I don't want to wait too long and miss out on scholarships but I don't want my application to be weak with only 1 LOR and especially because its from my supervisor and not a professor.

Can anyone offer me some advice

Thank you

Just wondering if you guys think this is a good topic. I was born and raised in the United States till I Was 7 years old, but I moved to Syria in the middle east for a few years of my life. I would like to write about how this has affected me personally in the sense that I was exposed to two totally different cultures and was forced to adapt. Also, it provided me with the opportunity to experience the freedoms we enjoy in the United States only to be stripped of those freedoms when I moved to Syria(Denied freedom of speech, of press, etc)

One more thing I want to talk about is how in Syria I defended the US to everyone I met, and In the US I defend Syria to everyone I meet and this has made me a good debater.

Sorry if this post is all over the place, I am usually a good writer, just kinda tired today lol  :P

Thanks for your input!
