Choosing the Right Law School / 162, 3.65, URM, UCLA/USC?
« on: June 15, 2009, 09:59:59 PM »
I'm Mexican American, have a HUGE upward trend in my GPA (first semester of college had a 2.3 gpa playing sports, but since them mostly all A's), second in my family to graduate high school, first to go to college.

How much of a chance do I have?  I know URM gives you a boost, but is it seriously enough?

Law School Admissions / 3.6 163 LSAT/ Chances at T18?
« on: June 11, 2009, 05:59:35 PM »
What kind of chance do I have at UCLA/ USC with those stats, considering I'm a URM (Mexican) and have fairly good softs(worked all four years of undergrad 40 hrs a week at good job, graduating early (3 1/2 yrs), some volunteering at Legal Aid Society).

Also, if I can't get into those schools, how well does a Loyola LA degree do in the job market?

Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Law School Admissions / How Much Does Being a URM help?
« on: May 13, 2009, 12:50:24 AM »
First off I'm not exactly sure who qualifies and second, how much does it help in the application process?  I'm applying to UCLA with a 3.6 and (currently) scoring 168 in my practice tests.  How much does being a URM mean to me (and other people applying to school?

Personal Statements, Resumes, and Letters of Recommendation / Help...
« on: April 18, 2009, 11:45:45 AM »
I was wondering if any of you out there would be willing to read my personal statement and let me know what you think.  I'm writing about a time in my childhood that was especially hard for me and that I believe made me who I am today (cheesy right?).  Anyway, I'll e-mail it to you and let you, and if you want, I'd be happy to read and comment on your PS.  Thanks.
