Current Law Students / Anyone know about the 5 year requirement?
« on: April 16, 2010, 06:43:00 AM »
I know a lot of Bars require you to finish law school within 5 years.  Also a lot of law schools follow this by requiring the same thing.  I was wondering if you could ever finish it outside the timeframe if you did not want to take the Bar...

Incoming 1Ls / Law School business cards
« on: August 07, 2006, 09:16:19 PM »
I was wondering seeing these on my school's site, and hearing some people talk about them, do people really get these?  Are they worth buying when you start to hand out to friends/aquaintances?

About being reconsidered and being in a select group being reconsidered and asking about your continued interest??

They got me all excited even though I had just about given up on them.

Incoming 1Ls / Question for 1L's about exams...
« on: May 11, 2006, 04:43:54 PM »
I already ordered myself a laptop, it seems like it's a decent size, yet I really hate laptop keyboards.  I also know that how quick you can type can also make a big difference in exam-taking.
Now my question is, did your school allow, or did anyone use a full-size keyboard with their laptop for exams?  I already refuse to use the touchpad because I can't stand it, I'll lug aroud a huge regular mouse instead of using the touchpad, but a regular keyboard would probably improve the WPM count a ton.

Incoming 1Ls / Laptop backpack
« on: May 03, 2006, 06:47:32 PM »
So I'm new to needing to carry a laptop with my books, I don't think my backpack would cut it, at least not just my backpack.

Are you guys planning on carrying a backpack and a laptop bag, or just one?  Just wondering what I need to get for my laptop now...

I posted this topic a while back, I thought it might be helpful to update it.
I found this recommended from somewhere else
This backpack seems great, a lot of space, especially for the low price.

So I am in between these two schools, fairly close as far as US News Rankings go.

Went to visit UoP but not SCU, I liked UoP, but when I look at SCU it seems as if they've just been highly regarded for longer than UoP (UoP was Tier4 not all that long ago, they've improved a lot, but who knows where they'll end up).  SCU has some amazing programs like IP (4th in the country or something), but I don't know if I'll end up doing it or not, I don't have much of a science background.

Anyone have any opinions?

UoP gave me 12k for the first year, renewable if I stay in top 1/3, I don't know if I'll stay in the top 1/3 when over half the class might have a scholarship and be in the same position as I am, and the average salary from SCU is something like $125,000 where it's only like $65,000 or something really low at UoP.

Law School Admissions / Question about Status-Checking
« on: March 22, 2006, 07:36:08 PM »
So I have to send in a deposit by April 1st like the rest of us, but it's probably about my 4th choice, the rest are still pending.

So I really don't want to send this deposit since I am hoping that I will hit 1 of the 3, although I really want to keep the seat in case I get rejected from all 3.  Are you guys calling or e-mailing to check your statuses?  Is it bad to check, and would you e-mail or call?  I really want to see if I'm gonna be able to hear back before April 1st or not.

By the way I didn't apply until January, couple in the middle of Jan. and one at the end of Jan.

Choosing the Right Law School / This year's US News Rankings?
« on: February 15, 2006, 03:30:12 PM »
When does this come out?  I am interested to see if some schools that are supposedly "coming up" still go up, and some schools which supposedly should have been T2 come out as T2, it would be great to be able to do this BEFORE deciding where to go though...

Law School Admissions / Anyone having this same issue with Loyola LA?
« on: February 02, 2006, 07:35:17 PM »
When I check their status check it says that my file is incomplete because it's waiting on LSDAS's transcript.

My file is not that old, however I have spoken to at least 2 other people who have been waiting a while with this same problem.  I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and knew exactly what that issue was since they have my whole LSDAS report and the transcript should have gone with it...

Law School Admissions / Question about LSDAS sending LOR's
« on: January 31, 2006, 03:52:50 PM »
One of my teachers is submitting and LOR now, and I have sent off all of my stuff to the schools, I was wondering if LSAC will automatically send out the new LOR or if I have to ask them to...
