Georgetown / 1L's Fall '06
« on: December 12, 2005, 11:16:16 PM »
I just wanted to get a topic going for incoming 1L's.

I got in last Thursday (12/8) and withdrew all my other applications.   I called GULC and asked when I would be receiving info on everything (financial aid, registration, etc.). The woman at the admissions office informed me that they will mail information packets out in mid-January.

I have a friend who's a 1L in the evening program (that's what I'll be doing too). He doesn't work, so he spends his days studying and doing research for a professor and going to lectures and speeches.  He enjoys GULC immensely.  He's taking finals right now, so I haven't been bothering him with too many questions about GULC, yet.  I look forward to hearing more about his first semester during his winter break.

Anyway, I look forward to future 1L's posting their thoughts about the upcoming year.  I would also be interested in hearing what current GULC students have to say about their experiences and any suggestions for ways to prepare for our first year of law school.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Non-Tablet Laptop for Law School
« on: April 04, 2006, 02:26:15 PM »
Although there is a fantastic thread on laptops and the people posting there are quite knowledgable on IT matters, the focus of the thread seems to have shifted to Tablet PC's.  I was hoping to get a discussion going on other laptops as I'm not particularly interested in Tablet PC's.

I was thinking about Dell's D410 or X1 - although I have heard terrible things about Dell's quality and customer service. I've also read great things about Lenovo/IBM Thinkpads - particularly the T series. I want something small that won't be a pain to carry around everyday.  ANd I want something that will hold up three years of being lugged around all the time. Any thoughts?

What are other people thinking about laptops (other than tablets)?

I've been reading some stuff about Microsoft OneNote.  Has anyone ever used it? Does anyone think it might be useful for law school? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

( I posted this same message under the "Acceptance" thread ). There is a school specific section on the "Students & Graduates" side of this site.  I started a general topic for those of us definitely going to GULC.  I hope to it will allow us to share information and thoughts about the upcoming year.  The link is below.
