General Board / NETWORKING
« on: March 19, 2009, 05:16:25 PM »
Im a newbie to this, but here goes:

I am moving to San Diego in August to attend Cal Western. I know that outside of my schools rank, my ability to network is imperative.

any advice any 1L's, 2L's or 3L's can give on the best routes to network @ school, in the city, at events etc......on the assumption that the person is pretty unfamiliar with the school, city etc. (im moving from UofO in eugene to Cal Western in San Diego)

thanks a ton

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Whittier vs Cal Western for 1L
« on: March 19, 2009, 02:42:39 PM »

Iv Gotten a lot of feedback from this site. appreciate all of it!

I'm debating between Whittier (11,200 scholarship) or Cal Western (no scholarship).......I plan to be at the top of my class and transfer (I know I know, everyone who plans on attending T4 schools plans to transfer, and I understand that it will not be easy).
If any of you knew that you would not be retaking the LSAT again (154), which school would you attend based on the premise of being top 10-15% of class and seeking to transfer to:

UC-HASTINGS
UC-DAVIS
BERKLEY
UCLA
USD
ASU
possibly USC, STANFORD

Also, I understand that alot of 1L's @ T4's go in with the idea of transferring, does this mean that your average T4 1L class  could have very stiff competition in terms of GPA, considering that sooo many students are looking to pull off 4.0 GPA in hopes of transferring. Even stiff-enough competition to be on par with T3's? T2's?

ANY feedback is much appreciated

Hey guys. Newbie here, I appreciate the wealth of advice on this site. I'm seeking any advice or suggestions you can offer me. Im a 154, 3.2 poli-sci & business undergrad. I have been accepted to Cal Western (High Attrition, t4, I know) I love San Diego, and California as a whole, however I know my options graduating from Cal Western are concentrated regionally in San Diego.

My question is this; If i can maintain top 15-20% in my class @ Cal Western, what are the realistic possibilities of transferring to into any of these schools either a)full time (mainly what I'm interested in)  b) part-time :

USD,USC,UCLA,STANFORD,UC-HASTINGS,BERKLEY,ASU

I ask because I understand that with such a low GPA, and an less-than-stellar LSAT score, my chances of getting into ASU, or USD are slim (2 schools of which im waiting to hear back from). I believe(am encouraged by the advice given to me by 1l's @ UofO law school- home of my undergrad) that I can rise to the top of my 1l class at Cal Western. I have been an 3.8 student the last two years of my undergrad while working 20+ hours a week. I live in the professors office hours, and I have been absorbing E & E's for 6 months and have been sitting in on UofO law lectures....etc etc. sorry to bore you with the details, these are simply the reasons for which I believe I may be able to excel.

Thanks for the advice!   Grin
