Don't break up with your significant other during exams. Even if you know you want to, it's still kinda a crappy situation.

General Off-Topic Board / Snitch B*tch Hoe
« on: May 07, 2005, 11:32:27 AM »
I don't know if this has been posted here yet. Something to look forward to when you're clerking for a judge on the US Court of Appeals!

"The trial transcript quotes Ms. Hayden as saying Murphy called her a snitch female dog "hoe." A "hoe," of course, is a tool used for weeding and gardening. We think the court reporter, unfamiliar with rap music (perhaps thankfully so), misunderstood Hayden's response. We have taken the liberty of changing "hoe" to "ho," a staple of rap music vernacular as, for example, when Ludacris raps 'You doin' ho activities with ho tendencies.'" - United States v. Murphy, 2005 U.S.App.LEXIS 7695 (May 4, 2005), footnote 1

There's a sign on the bridge going into Georgetown from Rosslyn that says "Virginia is for LOSERS." How does that make you feel? ;)

Law School Admissions / Just got loans approved
« on: August 02, 2004, 08:20:47 PM »
So I just got my loans approved. My dad's credit history was mixed with my own (same name) and it was f-ing up my credit. It was weird though cuz it only happened at one credit bureau (Transunion) and not the others. Either way, they deleted 14 accounts on my file and now I can pay for law school!! :-)

Does anyone else think it's scary how easy it is to become $50,000 more in debt? It seriously took me like 3.5 minutes online. Click, Click... $50k. :-(

Choosing the Right Law School / Indiana vs. Wash U
« on: April 10, 2004, 12:38:14 AM »
Hmm so here's the deal. I am in at Wash U with $8k/year. I'm not positive that it's my first choice b/c I'm still waiting to hear from a few other places, but of the places I've heard from, it definitely is.

I'm also in at Indiana-Bloomington with a lot of money. I sent them an email to decline their offer of admission, and I get an email back from the director of admissions. The state will pay my tuition (because of something with my dad's military service), and I think IU might cover all my living expenses, which would make law school zero cost.

Would I be absolutely ridiculously stupid to pass that up, or just kinda stupid? Of the places I'm still waiting on, the only one I really care about is Michigan. If I get in I'm going... don't really care how much $ someone throws at me. But assuming I don't... do I go for the money or the higher ranked school?
