Law School Admissions / Harvard 1Ls Taking Questions
« on: October 10, 2006, 07:55:33 PM »
If you have questions, you can post them here. Su and I will answer questions in this thread, and hopefully other HLS 1Ls will see fit to chime in as well. (H4CS or bass perhaps?)

It seems that the "deciding where to go board" has two threads independently started by simultaneously procrastinating Harvard 1Ls, but they don't seem to have attracted much notice...perhaps because at this time of the year most of LSD's traffic is on the "applications" board rather than the "deciding where to go" board. So I decided to start this thread here in case anyone actually does have questions to ask.

At the moment, Su and I are doing this because we'd rather not be doing a legal memo assignment that we have due on Thursday... ;) but I'll still take questions after that, and perhaps other 1Ls will make themselves available here as well.

Choosing the Right Law School / Pipe smoking at Yale
« on: May 22, 2006, 10:52:32 PM »
So when I saw people talking about pipe smoking at Yale, and posting pics of smoking jackets in the Yale threads on this board, I thought it was really ridiculous.

Then, at graduation yesterday, every Yale College graduate was given a clay pipe and a small packet of tobacco. The tradition of giving pipes and tobacco to the students apparently dates back over 140 years.

Some friends and I smoked the pipes this evening, and afterwards we all smashed the pipes, also in accordance with tradition to symbolize the end of an age.

Stanley's crimes are patently obvious to any regular reader of this forum, but include:

1. "pish posh":,56039.msg1285823.html#msg1285823
2. Stalking LSDers who he doesn't even have a sexual interest in (unless he has a big surprise for us):,56039.msg1284533.html#msg1284533
3. Obsession with obscure philosophers:,56039.msg1300182.html#msg1300182
4. Of course the obvious:,56039.msg1274445.html#msg1274445
5. And worst, blatant theft of intellectual property:,56039.msg1300104.html#msg1300104

You will all note that as noted in #5 Stanley has created his own, illegitimate nerd of all eternity award (with a "runner-up" that changes? nerd-o-rama!), but  I trust that the enlightened citizens of LSD will vote with their feet and ETP this thread so it always remains above any of Stan's nonsense.

Law School Admissions / "Center for Student Opinion Research" Survey
« on: April 24, 2006, 11:01:02 AM »
Hey so did anyone who did that "Center for Student Opinion Research Survey" actually get the $25?

It was the survey where someone called you unsolicited, asked you a bunch of nosy questions about where you were applying, asked specifically about a few schools (e.g. U Mich, Penn) and what your ranked choices were, and then sent $10 in CASH and additional survey forms by mail.

I got the $10 and the additional forms, then I completed the second part of the survey but never got the $25 I was supposed to get for completing the second part.

General Off-Topic Board / Who's the REAL dumbest guy on LSD?
« on: April 04, 2006, 08:08:28 AM »
I object to Bureau's exclusion of bluewarrior from his dumbest guy poll, so I have created my own corrected poll. Drop your two cents in the slot, and let's fire up the juke box.

April fool's.

Law School Admissions / TRAD
« on: March 04, 2006, 10:04:32 AM »
Does anyone else think that you have reached the TRAD frontier?  ;D

This is the point where, like me, you believe that every schools has had ample time to look at your apps, and you think the ones that will accept you would have already done so by now, and so while you are waiting on a few more decisions, you expect that The Rest Are Dings (TRAD).

Aargh, the wait is killing me...

Who's going to the March admit weekend?

And who would be up for an LSD party?  ;D
