Personal Statement / PS Review - Looking for volunteer critics
« on: September 29, 2008, 11:51:36 PM »
I have a Personal Statement draft that I would like some feedback on. I tried to make it narrative, but I'm not sure if it includes enough of the "why i'm going to law school" element...

PM me if you're willing to take a few moments to review it. Thanks!

Law School Applications / Schools with a Religious Tradition
« on: July 12, 2008, 01:49:36 PM »
Some of the school I'm applying to have a religious affiliation (Georgetown, Notre Dame, Boston College). As a person with a religious affiliation of "none", do you think this will adversely affect my chances?

I apologize if this question is extremely obvious to some of you, but I've never really had interaction with Jesuit schools, so I have no idea if religious affiliation will affect admissions likelihood, when applying to those schools.

Law School Applications / Splitter Questions
« on: June 16, 2008, 06:59:30 PM »
I guess I'm what you would call a 'splitter'. My UGPA is currently around 2.7, but will be around 2.8 by the end of the summer. I'm taking the LSAT in October, and I'm scoring in the 170-175 range on practice tests, but trying to improve to 175+. I want to go to a T14 law school, but I have two questions:

1) My fall semester will help me get my UGPA to about 3.0. Is it worth it to wait until after Fall 08 grades post in December to apply to the T14 law schools, or is that getting to be too late and reducing my acceptance chances?

2) If I get a 175+ on the LSAT and finish with around a 3.0 UGPA, are Harvard/Yale/Stanford out of the question? I've heard of people with similar stats getting into Michigan, Georgetown, and the like, but haven't really heard of anyone getting into HYS with that low of a UGPA...

2a) Will it help my case that I've gotten >3.7 semester average for the last two years? I.e., will upward GPA trends help?

Thanks in advance for everyone who responds. :)
