2L job search / Resources for firm info« on: August 15, 2008, 01:26:27 PM »
I keep hearing the most important part of successful interviewing is showing that you know a lot about the firm. Does anyone have any tips on how to gather info on firms that would help one show they can distinguish Firm X from Firm Y. A lot of these huge multinational firms seem to be carbon copies of each other so I am having a hard time.

how often is this done? i am told that with oci, law review, and classes my 1st semester is going to be hellish (i'm a rising 2L at a T20 by the way). will this help federal clerkship chances?

I'm looking at various employers' hiring criteria on symplicity and it will say 3.3 GPA, top 15%, law review preferred, etc. My school's cut-off for top 15% is like 3.7.
Why do the firms give such anomalous criteria? 4

What does the etiquette book say about this? I had 2 professor write me a LOR for a summer internship and the same 2 write LORs for transferring. I feel quite indebted to them since LORs are not easy to write. I remember people talking about this when I was applying out of undergrad...but I guess they took away the search option on this site?

How did you do LORs? I wanted to make it easier on my letter writers so I had them send their letters to LSAC. However, when LSAC received them they just grouped these new letters with the 2 old ones i used when applying from undergrad. lsac says they send them to schools that i apply to, but i'm not applying through lsac this time around so they won't know where to send them... any help is appreciated.

General Board / My school (GW) doesn't rank - how do I determine it?« on: June 03, 2008, 11:13:41 PM »
I just finished my 1L year at GW. They don't rank, but instead give scholar designations i.e. top 15% and top 35%.
I'd like a more precise determination of my rank for various reasons. Anyone have any idea how I'd do that? I have no idea what the curve is - I've looked all around GW's site and the internet in general. I'm assuming it is somewhere between a 3 and 3.33 though. Thanks.
