General Board / JMLS-Atlanta....transferring to South Carolina?

Hello,
I will begin law school this fall at JMLS-Atlanta. Ideally I would be able to tranfer to South Carolina after my first year(or semester if that is an option). Obviously you want to be in the top part of your class. What are some other things as an L1 you can do to strengthen your chances of transferring into another school? I thought I would be accepted to S.C. when I applied, obviously I was wrong.
