General Board / law school student budy
« on: February 10, 2007, 04:08:37 PM »
Simply put, the student body at my school consists of a bunch of rich, preppy $HIT$. Is this this generally how it is or did I just pick a bad one. Thanks.

General Board / Law school vs. 9 to 5 job...give your opinion
« on: June 28, 2006, 05:39:57 PM »
I will be a 1L in the fall. For the summer, I am working at a large law firm that specializes in debt collection. I am on the phone for literally 8 hours a day with angry disgruntled debtors. Honestly, I cannot friggin wait for law school to start. Am I right when I say that law school is without question better than most 9-5 jobs out there, specifically mine? Law school HAS to be better than this lol. Let me know what you think.

General Board / Balancing academics and social life
« on: May 29, 2006, 09:08:57 PM »
I am a soon to be 1L and am wondering what it is TRUTHFULLY going to be like.

Are the majority of people on this board attempting to instill fear by exaggerating the amount of time they actually spend studying? Do people attempt to make it look more strenuous and time consuming then it really is? Or is the law school experience as bad as some make it out to be.

Although I am prepared to work as hard as I have to in order to put myself in the best position possible, I would still like to maintain some sort of a social life. I do not plan on going out during the week like I did in undergrad, however, I would like to be able to go to the bar or keep in touch with friends on Friday and Saturday nights, and have some down time on the weekend. I will be attending a part-time day program where I will be taking one less class a semester. Is this a reasonable expectation?

General Board / Law school effort
« on: May 20, 2006, 05:01:42 PM »
I will be a 1L in the fall and I am curious as to what the student body will be like. Are there students that are just happy to be there and put forth little effort, or do all students live in the library like you read in the books. I guess you can say I am just trying to get a feel for the competition. Thanks in advance.

Who has one in their first year? Who doesn't? If you do, how do you manage your time. Thanks.

General Board / Law School Weekends
« on: April 10, 2006, 06:47:25 PM »
Does anyone just put the books away and enjoy themselves on the weekend? I plan on approaching law school like a full time job: Wake up by 9 am everyday Monday-Friday, study, go to daily classes, study more until I go to sleep. If this were my daily schedule Monday-Friday would I be able to enjoy my weekends, relax, visit the girlfriend (who will be a little about 2 hours away). Is this a realistic approach or is this not possible. I am going to be a 1L in the fall. Thanks!

Anyone already set on going to Hofstra in the fall? If so, what made you choose Hofstra? I am leaning towards Hofstra as well.

General Board / New York Law
« on: March 18, 2006, 03:33:16 PM »
I am interested in going into a small-midsized firm or government agency out of law school. How are the job prosepcts at New York Law? Although I hear alot of criticism towards New York Law on this board, stats show that 93% are employed by 9 months after graduation which is not bad.
