Just thought I would share my success story.

Lat year, I was a 1L at a 4th Tier school. I applied to transfer out. My 1L grades were great--top 5%. Law Review, etc.

I was accepted to 2nd Tier schools but the 1st Tier schools rejected me.

I faced the choice: Go to a 2d Tier school and pay full tuiton or stay at my 4th Tier school and accept the almost full ride they offered me.

It felt like I was making more of a career choice than an academic one: Go 2nd Tier and get the better job, or stay at 4th Tier and take my chances.

Well, I decided that BigLaw probably sucks anyways and took the scholarship to stay at my 4th tier school.

I sent out tons of resumes anyways, and interviewed at a lot of firms based on my top 5% standing even though my school is low-ranked.

Happy ending: I just accepted two offers. The first is a spring internship in a Fortune 500 company's legal department, and the second is a Summer Associate position at a Vault-rated top 100 private law firm. The pay is $2500 per week, and almost all summer associates get job offers at the end of the summer.

The best part: I don't pay tuiton for these last two years.

SO>>>> Sometimes it is OK to stay at a 4th Tier. It can work out just great. So if you applied to transfer out and didn't get in to 1st Tier schools, your job search may turnut OK anyways.

Here's the situation:

I finished my first year at Tier 4 school ranked top 5.1%

I applied to USD, Loyola, UCLA, and USC as a transfer.

Then my own school offers me a 3/4 tution scholarship, automatic on for law review, and a job as a tutor for 1st year students. This would save me about $50k over the next two years off of the tuiton, albeit I would be graduatiing from a Tier 4 school.

Loyola and USD both accepted me (haven't heard back from the other two). But neither of these shcools (Tier 2) offer scholarships to transfers (or at least not to me).

So.... should I stay at a Tier 4 with all the perks and the $$$ scholarship (so my tuiton would be $7k a year instead of $30k) or should I transfer to a more prestigious Tier 2 school and pay full price???

Hello! I am a 2L that was accepted to USD as a transfer. I will probably (90% certain) be attending there unless I get in to another school I applied to.

I have a room available in a two-bedroom apartment in Mission Valley (close to school; no freeway needed to get to school, just drive down Friars Rd). Quiet roommate wanted; no smoking, no drugs, studious, easy-going, clean/neat in common areas, cat OK.

It's also possible I will be moving out so the entire apartment would be for rent, but I won't know until I see if I get in to the LA I school I applied to.
