Roger Williams / One Student's Perspective
« on: July 28, 2010, 01:19:15 PM »
I recently checked out this board for this first time in a while and was a little disturbed at some of the posts. I want to offer my perspective on RWU Law. I am a rising 2L and a RI native. RWU was the only school I applied to for a couple reasons: (1) I didn't want to leave RI and (2) I had a lot of loans from undergrad and figured I had a good shot at getting a scholarship. I went to an Ivy undergrad and wasn't sure what to expect from RWU. I've talked to many alumni and from what I can tell, the school has made tremendous strides in the last decade. I love it here. I did well last year, so that may explain at least part of my positive outlook, but I can tell you that the vast majority of my classmates also enjoy both the academic experience and the community at RWU. My professors were all fantastic and supportive. For the most part, my classmates are hardworking, smart, nice people. I don't know what my experience would have been like elsewhere, but I am very happy here.

Of course, anyone who applies to law school needs to carefully think about their career goals and their financial situation. It made a lot of sense for me to go to RWU notwithstanding its low rank because I know I want to practice in Rhode Island. Also, I'd like to work for the government in some capacity, and I didn't want to take out loans to get a degree from a 'better' school.

Anyway, consider your source when reading posts about RWU. It's up to you to decide if the perspective of a disgruntled alum or a satisfied current student should weigh more heavily in your decision making. If anyone has any questions about RWU Law, feel free to message me.

Roger Williams / Roger Williams FinAid
« on: June 29, 2005, 08:31:09 AM »
Can anyone tell me anything about Roger Williams' finaid habits, generosity of scholarships, etc.? I am not too worried about getting accepted but I would need almost a full ride to attend. I don't have complete stats since I just finished my sophomore year, but I expect it will be 3.5/165 from an Ivy. Any info on what my chances at a scholarship might be is appreciated. Thanks.

Law School Admissions / Deferring and retaining scholarship $
« on: June 12, 2007, 09:10:05 PM »
If a school offers you significant scholarship money- let's say a half to full tuition scholarship- will they generally allow you to defer admission for one year and retain that scholarship offer, or do things have to be renegotiated? Thanks.

Law School Admissions / Pre-law advisor leaving...
« on: February 09, 2007, 11:07:13 AM »
I went to see the pre-law advisor at my school a few times before (once a year). Apparently now he's leaving...he'll stay on til the end of the semester and then they will split his duties among several deans.

I'll be working on apps this summer and applying in the fall... is this bad news for me or is it not going to matter much?

st. thomas?

Got my first one today from an extreme TTT

oh, ok... nm then

is it possible that you guys are looking at the box that says "Score Email Date, under "Account Status-LSAT?"  That has said 10/23/06 at least since the test, if not before that.  The box everyone is talking about is under the "My Docs" tab on the LSAC website and is labeled simply "Update"
