Since you are from Northern CA, what do you think about the Bay Area?  Or Berkeley specifically?  That was one of my things too, they didn't make Berkeley seem like a nice place to go to school.

The city itself is well...very different from anywhere else I've ever been.  That's the best I can explain it.  It's extremely diverse (ethnically and in a social-economic sense), urban, and liberal.  As a freshmen coming from suburbia, I did experience a bit of culture shock. I was used to quiet streets, manicured lawns, track housing, etc.
It took me a good year to get used to my surroundings.  That being said, I did come to appreciate the area.  There's a ton of things to do and really a million different crowds you could run with.

After spending 4 years in Northern California, I've come to love the area...it's one of the reasons I chose Boalt (among other things).  I think you would make a good choice in picking Boalt (plus then I'll have someone to watch Sox and Pats games with LOL).

I was close.  I was spot on for tra, britt and sno.  I didn't know you as well as I could have, but I at least pulled optimistic and energetic.  I knew sara was one-off witty (it takes at least a second to determine what she's being funny about.  Those people are fun.)

hmm...this makes me wonder...wat's spot on for me? token asian guy ??? :D

i don't know- Mu, what did you expect sno to be like?

It isn't that you are just asian.  It's that you are obviously connected to your heritage.  Either you are first generation or earlier.  Also, believe it or not, many first generation taiwanese (<---this is correct?) act very similarly.

Yeah, so when are we meeting at Hotel Fig?

How do we act similarly?

How's that?

A little about me:

I'm originally from socal and went to NorCal for college

Huge college football fan and love my bears. I even went to a game instead of spending time with my gf after not seeing her for a month -- we'll just say that was a BIG MISTAKE...

Actually, not sure what you guys would want to know....

I prefer swiss cheese?  :P

LOL- swiss is good cheese.  My UG UC is retarded and doesn't have a bell tower (but my library could TOTALLY kick your library's ass) so I like the tower 'tar.  Congrats on going to Boalt, by the way- what was your major in UG?

Okay...I'm guessing UCSD...with the tree Library?

I just found a raisin in the crevasse (yes, that’s really how you spell it, I looked it up) of my chair. Don’t worry, I didn’t eat it, I’ve been sitting on it for a few months now.

That's cool.  Did you see the game 2 years ago where CAL beat SC in a wonderful last second field goal?  That was sweet. I hate USC.  Just saying.

Feel free to talk football anytime, I'm a huge fan!  (NFL too, but not as much.)

Where does the name come from?

It's just a screenname I made up when I was a little kid

Hey guys...so how long before Im no longer referred to as the "stranger"?  ???

Hey Tra-
Are you from Texas? Do you know anything about the real estate situation in Austin?  Thinking of buying a place out there...since I'll never be able to afford anything here in Cali...

I don't understand soda.

Just don't.

I like soft pretzels with cinnamon and sugar.

Everyone likes pretzels with cinnamon and sugar.  There isn't a pretzel "shop" here so much as there is a vending machine.  Soda might be something that is just very addictive.  I also find it refreshing (diet, not regular.  Regular is gross.)

Yea...you come to love diet...just takes a few months...and you don't get that weird feeling you get after drinking too much of the regular stuff.

You guys will be dissapointed pretty fast by Boalt.  The classes are large, the professors are disinterested, the competition is cut throat.  Your classmates will be your nightmare.  The extent to which the competition goes is this: you'd better not EVER  leave the classroom, even for a bathroom break, and leave your notes and books unsupervised...you will never see them again.

Having said that, make sure you take a class with Professor Rubinfeld, he's a trip in Business Law.  If you want a taste of the Socratic method in a classy, intelligent manner, and also an amazing lesson in logic, take Professor Meir Dan-Cohen (I'm not sure he's teaching law school the next few semesters, but if you can, do it).

Be proud now, once you are there the nightmare begins.

Mind me asking where you got this info?  Thanks for the input (especially about the professors)- it's somewhat refreshing to hear a negative review.  However, what you're saying is just so opposite of everything I have heard about Boalt that it is a bit surprising.  Most have said that Boalt is much more relaxed than any of the other T14's.  Why would there be as much competition given the different grading scheme?  For this reason, I'd tend to doubt the accuracy of your post.

PS: I too loved that second email.  After reading the first and realizing that the attachment was missing I just shook my head - LOL.  Can't blame him too much however, I tend to be equally absent minded.

Yea, it's the complete opposite of what I've heard.  I have a personal friend who passed on Harvard because of the atmosphere at Boalt...that and the chance to be at a school headed by Dean Edley.

I would just like to say, i <3 Edward Tom. He's hilarious.

"Seems I continue to be email dysfunctional..."

that made me laugh so hard.  :D

Yea I loved that...

And wow...they picked up on the yahoo group pretty quickly...
