this thread is very reassuring to me. i was worried that i'd be the most immature person in my entire 1L class, but it sounds like i'll be in good company!

Just wondering if using an old-school pen and paper to take notes is socially acceptable. I dunno... I think I can write faster than I type, and I don't really want to carry around my computer all day every day...but I don't want to be the only person not using a laptop. anyone else thinking about going this route?

moving from montreal/just graduated from boston undergrad
probably living in the alabama
probably attending on the 20th
what am i sure of? i love thai and japanese food, but HATE indian
i highly doubt that they actually enforce the "no overnight guests" rule. almost every dorm-type housing i've ever heard of has had that type of rule and it was never enforced.
yeah, the twin bed sucks - almost made me change my mind about living in the alabama. but for me, convenience is soooo important. i'm also still in "college mode" and, as such, i'm used to rolling out of bed five minutes before class begins. it'll be realllly nice to be able to (basically) do that for the first year of law school. i'm also worried about distractions, etc...i just think living there will make me really focus and then, come spring, i will know the city well enough to take the time and find an apartment in an area that i really like. it'll also be nice to meet people there. a ton of my friend will be in nyc, but i'm really hoping to make new friends too and not be stuck in the same tight group from college.
i actually got my assignment today, i got a studio and i'm excited about it. i checked out the building a few weeks ago, it seemed safe, quiet and well-kept, and the unit i saw was nice. yes, it was "dormy" with the small bed and generic furniture, but it was big enough for one person to be totally comfortable (and had 2 closets!). it's not cheap but i think we're paying for location, which is good enough for me.

ok i'm new to this thread (always been intimidated since its soo long and i'm too lazy to read through the whole thing), but i have a 12" powerbook and a neoprene sleeve for it, can i just put that in one of the large longchamp totes? i did this all through college and it served me well. i have the longchamp tote in both tan and black and i dont really want to buy another large bag.
hey everyone... i too will be attending cardozo in the fall and i am really excited, i've heard great things and got a good vibe when i visited. i am coming straight from undegrad so i'm still kind of in "college mode" and, as such, i hope that cardozo will be a social place where i can make a lot of friends.
as of now, i'm living in the cardozo housing. i am debating living with 2 friends from college, but i am really torn and not sure what i will end up doing. the alabama is sooo close and convenient, which is definitely a major plus. is anyone else planning on living there?

So I decided to live in the Cardozo housing but I am having second thoughts. I jut graduated from college and I really want to live with some of my friends. I also want to try to move in July so I can get used to living in NYC, and the Cardozo housing only opens up mid-august which doesn't give me a lot of time to get settled. I'm also afraid that if I live in the dorm, I will feel like I should constantly be doing work and I'll be stressed all the time. Does anyone have any general advice regarding law school housing?
Where should I go next fall? / Re: anyone going to a school they barely considered when they applied?« on: April 16, 2006, 09:35:51 PM »
i had decided on LA for sure, and was set to go to loyola -- or usc if i got in (still havent heard yet btw). i applied to nyc schools just as a whim. then i basically had a quarter-life crisis and decided to move to nyc and attend fordham. THEN i got a full ride from cardozo! so thats where i'll be...definitely not what i had planned. but i'm really excited!!!!
