not sure if it applies in your case but maybe travel expenses, like if you need to fly anywhere to see family/significant other/etc...

also clothes/entertainment if you're into that...

thanks Lgirl!

okay finally its official, i'm going to Boalt this fall!!! I'm so excited I get to stay in this area...

Since I'm a late admit I'm a little scared I missed something, so just to make sure, all they need from us is an official transcript and that's it right? no picture or medical exams?

Oh Lord so true, I'm a smoker and whenever I bum a cigarette from a black person they're 98% of the time menthols, I would love to see a study on this...

Okay, I'm stumped on this one myself, being a non-smoker, but I too am under the impression that blacks prefer menthols. This one might take some field research. I'll get back to you brother.

As of dinner time today, I will be single.  I am ending a 2 yr relationship that was not going to make it through law school.  I plan on staying single through school, with the occasional booty call ;)

I'm sorry if I come off as being nosy...but I'm just curious as to why you (or anyone else ending a long relationship before LS) may be ending your relationship. Not that this applies to you in any way, but I feel as though a few people on this forum seem to be throwing away a good thing just because they have this skewed mentality on a long distance relationship. I've heard before "Oh I can't do long distance..or..I wont have time to do a long distance thing and study..or...It won't last another 3 years, etc". I just feel like no matter how difficult it is to deal with LS and a long distance relationship, you don't just throw in the towel when you have something good going. If you don't love that other person, then it's a different story altogether.

no worries.  i agree with you that if you're in a great relationship you should maybe try the long distance thing, however that is not why I broke up with my bf. in fact though i'm undecided, i'll probably be staying here in the bay area where he lives. its a longer story but the jist is yes, I was no longer in love with him.

Wait List / Re: Boalt

thanks Lgirl!

right now, even though I'm a california resident, Columbia is cheaper, though i'm still waiting to see if Boalt gives me any need based aid...

i have a list of pros and cons going, but i'm really confused about this one. to make matters worse, i have to let boalt know by memorial day because of a fellowship they gave me.
i know i shouldn't complain, but still...

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / waitlist news got me down
« on: May 16, 2005, 07:19:40 PM »
So I've been telling everyone and their mothers that I'm going to CLS.  submitted my deposit, loan applications, immunization records, etc.  I almost bought a t-shirt.

imagine my surprise when I get a call today that I'm off Boalt's waitlist. i had heard they never take people off their waitlist, but beware, that is obviously not so.

so this sucks. i know i should be happy, but i was all set on cls, now i'm just confused.  i live in CA and would be a lot easier to stay, and i could keep my car and my boyfriend, maybe even my apartment. i guess i'll just leave it to the financial aid gods to decide?

anyone else been punched in the stomach by waitlist news out there? need a support group. or any advice in general? :-\
