Transferring / Re: Transferring from SIU Law to the U!!

Yeah, I am going to apply to Denver if I am Top half as soon as I get my rank. If I am top third, I am going to apply to Boulder. I don't really see the reason to o to a place nicer than #30something Boulder (I just want a district federal clerkship or a staff position in a federal department)....I guess I would apply to Washington(#20 something), but I doubt I would get in, even if I was #1.

Transferring / Re: Visiting versus Sticking It Out?

From what I hear, they are not interested in your credentials, because you are getting your degree from a bottom feeding school. I am thinking about visiting because it allows you to make connections you normally couldn't. At my small rural school the only really job oppurtunity for average students is to become an associate for a solo practioner for teacher's salaries (30-40 k), though more students at my school have been getting better jobs, UW attorneys are still one of the worse paid in the country and still make about 30% less than the average graduate, as opposed to the ives grads that make like 125% more.

This is off topic, but the Casper-"Red"Star Tribune headline states that "Cheneny Perfers male private part"  :D

This sounds pretty neat, but I would be interested in federal staff attorney positions that have the same pay (its not like 2500 a week big law, but at like 1100 a week, it beats the *&^% out of working as an associate for a solo practicitioner or a local official in which you are lucky to be payed 700 a week (which really sucks)

Yeah...thats how it usually works. It is basically an intentional exchange. Something is saught, something is given

Studying and Exam Taking / Re: Done with exams!!

I know it is...I can still hope, right....and it would be good if Torts or Contracts are my highest. I really don't want to do Criminal Law. I really want to be a federal staff attorney for a federal department. The pay and hours are not great, but they are appropriate (40 hours a week starting at 55K, and maturing at 110K in 5 years)..also I am interested in the culture of the work space at federal offices. But I digress..

I finished exactly a week ago. Contracts and Property were pretty straight forward. Criminal was actually kinda fun....Torts was a bit tricky though...I had to section out a section of one claim on Res Ipsa..it worked with the other case though. I pray that my exams satisfy my prof's artisan tastes. I think I realistically got a

Criminal  A- (it was REALLY fun...did better than a lot on the exam)
Property  B+ (I wrote on about 60% of the issues I found.(and I REALLY DUG)..I did alright)
Torts     B- (I got a B and a C on the diagnostic papers, luckily I knew exacty why I got a C and hit all thouse points very hard)
Contracts B (slipped up a little, hit all the hard parts though)
Writing   B  (Got an A- in research, did about average in writing)

Hopefully, this will be enough to transfer to DU. My goal is just to break 3.0.

So as long as you beat a lot more people than beat you, you should attempt to level up one or two.
