It might be an ok choice, just don't expect to get a job and be prepared to be failed out by their harsh curve. Honestly though, if that's your best choice I would suggest reconsidering your career choice. A paralegal at a biglaw firm would make more money than most TJ grads and you can do it with just a BA.

Don't worry about it. It's not based on anything, you just select to transfer and you do the extra 1L classes in the summer. You'll be a full time 2L just like everyone else.
Actually, if they offered you a day division waitlist spot you'll probably get off that list. I was on there for about 1-2 weeks before I got into day division. USD has been trying to boost numbers for years so they give tons of day spots/full scholarships to overqualified people who don't end up coming. 3

Absolutely do not. Not only is it a waste of time it might hurt your grades. Law school is a lot of work, you have no idea how much work. If you want money, then come dec 1st be prepared to send out resumes/cover letters to biglaw firms. You'll make about 29,000 over the summer if you can get a job, which you have a good chance of doing from a top 10 school. Is it really worth risking your grades to make a few grand over the semester? Seriously, grades are incredibly important your first semester and 1L is a very short time. Don't risk it.
Just take out the loans and focus on studying. You can work 2L and 3L part time, a lot of students do it. 4

Would you reccomend USD for me? USD dominates the small/midsize firms around here so as far as getting a job its not a serious problem. The only issue is whether or not you can handle the debt on the salary those jobs pay. If you've got parents paying for it or can manage to keep a scholarship its definetly not a bad choice. 5

Its far smaller than major markets like NYC and LA. USD is the strongest school in the 'region' but its not like people from UCLA/USC/national schools stay away from here.
I realize you're probably set in your decision and you may even do well here but be prepared for the risk of losing scholarship and having to pay off some mighty large loans for the next 10-20 years. Its certainly not as dire as cal western or TJ, but there are quite a lot of people who end up getting screwed. I would absolutely not go here with those numbers unless they offered a full scholarship with no GPA requirements and you did not intend biglaw. 6

As a fellow USD 1L (day division) I can honestly say that if you got into a significantly higher ranked school like USC, UCLA, Berkley, etc, go there.
The problem with USD is jobs jobs jobs, oh and tuition (if you're paying for it). The total cost to go here is about 150k including living expenses on the current budget. Don't count on that scholarship either because as a 0L you have absolutely no idea how well you're going to do in classes and theres a good chance you're going to lose it. The LRAP program is a joke. The career services love pushing public service jobs, but this isnt because the school is full of hippies, its because you're not going to have much luck getting a firm job unless you're in the top of the class. Unless you've got rich parents or manage to maintain that full scholarship you are going to be paying back a heap of loans on very little salary in a very expensive place to live. The student body is excellent, there definetly are some very smart people. Which is actually a very bad thing because of the curve you are going to be competing with a lot of very smart people for very few top spots. USD is a very nice looking school in a very awesome location, I dont know why the OP says the building is bad inside. I find all the facilities to be excellent inside and out. Parking is a hassle on rare occasions and is impossible at certain times of the day. As far as going up in the rankings, I feel that USD definetly deserves to be quite a few spots higher considering the caliber of its professors and students. However, don't count on the rankings going up anytime soon or going up significantly. Maybe in 20 years USD will be a top 40 or top 30 school but right now they are a tier 2 in a very small legal market. As far as going up to LA for jobs, you're going to have to stand in line with all the kids from Loyola as well as all the people from USC/UCLA/Harvard/Yale etc. 7

Have they sent out anymore info about the orientation? My mail has been horribly delayed and I havent heard anything about what we are supposed to be doing on the thursday and friday orientation sessions.
