Incoming 1Ls / Law School Prep Course
« on: May 04, 2005, 03:49:12 PM »
I'm sure there have been other threads, but I havne't found any.  Has anyone signed up or taken a law school prep course?  does anyone know the names of companies in the bay area?   are these classes worth it, or just for students too scared to face the unknown?  thanks for any responses....just a little curious.

Mr. Raul

Are we there yet? you hit my predicament right on the head.  i know i'm an idiot for trashing all my letters, but i'll be damned if northwestern is the only school that isn't on boalt's list.....anyone have any ideas?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Boalt Hall Matching Funds

Boalt Hall apparently offers a merit based matching scholarship to students who received scholarships from any school on the following list:

Columbia University
Cornell University
Duke University
Georgetown University
Harvard University
New York University
Stanford University
University of Chicago
University of Michigan
University of Pennsylvania
University of Virginia
Yale University

That is every school in the top fourteen except for two - Boalt and Northwestern.  Why Boalt isn't on the list is self explanatory, but why is northwestern left off the list?  They are the only school that offered me an acceptance package upfront, I declined every other school before I was even offered financial aid packages bc i knew i wouldn't be going there no matter what the offer, and I wanted to free up spaces for people on the waitlist. Now i'm kicking myself for not having dragged it out a little longer.  Anyone know why northwestern is left off of this list?  Any ideas on what I should do?  Thanks for the help.

Even though there may be no distinctions between people in the bottom 60% of the class, distinctions certainly would remain between those who consistently receive a mark of "pass" as opposed to someone who consistently receives high honors.  I can see how the pass grade eliminates competition among those in the bottom sixty percent, but doesn't it become that much more difficult, and therefore competitive, to receive a high honors?  By all means I am hoping that the answer is no, but I just can't imgaine the environment being as relaxed as most people have seemed to suggest.  Any thoughts?

for people looking at boalt, i was hoping someone could answer a question for me.  people talk about how boalt doesn't have grades, but they have a pass/honors/high honors system. how does this differ from a c/b/a system in place in most schools where they rarely give grades below c?  i'm sure there is an answer to thsi bc it seems to be a big deal to everyone that yale and boalt don't give grades, but i can't figure it out.  thanks for your help.

i applied regular decision and got in more than a month ago, i don't remember my exact stats but check out my law school numbers profile if you're interested as to dates
