I've heard of stories about law grads working as paralegals. Is this true? If yes, is this a common occurence? Under what circumstances? Do you need to go to a top 25 law school to avoid this?

There's, of course, nothing wrong about working as a paralegal. I'm just wondering about career opportunities available to law grads, or the lack thereof.

Thanks.

According to the book "How to Get into Top Law Schools" (Richard Montauk), Northwestern uses the higher score.

What's the average salary for a UH grad? Are the stats provided by the schools realistic? How's UH's reputation outside Texas?

I'm a prospective law student and a recent immigrant. I'm hoping to find work in the city/state where I'd be attending law school. I hear that Boulder is a great city and Colorado a great state to live in. Any thoughts on the U of Colorado School of Law?

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for the response.

Just a clarificatory question. What did you mean by this line: "if you end up at the top 1/3 of your class at a Tier 1 (top 50) school, it doesn't matter."  Did you mean that these people are certain to land lawyer positions? I hope this includes schools that are usually in the bottom part of the top 50 but slip out occasionally. :)

Thanks.

There's, of course, nothing wrong with working as a paralegal at all. I'm just wondering about career opportunities for law graduates, or the lack thereof.

Thanks.

Bluebonnet: I'd like to know more about U of Houston. You made a comment that it's ghetto. Thanks a lot in advance.

Is this list in order?

Considering the significantly lower tuition fees at UHLC (assuming you're paying in full), what reasons would one have to attend SMU or Baylor instead of UH?  Employment stats are also not significantly better at SMU and Baylor.

Dave:Midwest Stick:

Is it easier to get into part-time programs? Are the admission standards not the same for both programs? Is it not an option to change status midway (PT to FT or vice versa)?
