Transferring / Re: Transfer to a school of similar ranking
« on: April 20, 2006, 08:11:24 AM »
Actually, I'm in the same situation. I'll be getting married this summer and hope to transfer to a school that actually has a lower ranking (not by much) than my current school.

I think it's just a ploy for the author of the 1982 book: Holy Blood, Holy Grail to get some free advertising. If it weren't for this suit, would anyone have ever heard of this book in the first place?

Like everyone else, I thought that E&E was very helpful for Civ Pro. I used Emmanuel's for Torts since it was keyed to my text and I thought I did fairly well in that class too. If I  compare my grades in classes in which I used the commercial supplements and classes in which I did not, there was a significant difference. I personally think they are very helpful in understanding certain concepts when both the text and the professor are vague.

Current Law Students / Re: How to spend dead week?

Yeah, I'd second that. Many lawschools do not have a "dead week" at all.

Our first final was the Monday after thanksgiving . What a way to spend a vacation.

I was talking to a few other law students the other day and came to the realization that all five of the gunners in the entire 1L class are in my section....

It's going to be a loooooong year.

I haven't heard anything either. Orientation is tomorrow, maybe they are waiting to see if there are many people that don't show up.

I called admissions today. They said everyone who is still on the waitlist should have their decision on the 31st.

I'm in the same boat, but at this point I am not really expecting anything to come of it.

I also am still on Miami's waitlist. I spoke to the admissions department last month and they said that, at that time, they didn't expect to be calling back anyone from the waitlist. I'm not sure if anything has changed since then. Best thing for you to do at this point would be to call admissions and see exactly where they stand.

Miami received more applications this year than in the past. That being the case, it has made it more competative for people to get in. The fact that you are still on the waitlist shows that, in the event they receive many drops when class starts, you may be one of those considered for admission to fill those spaces.

I wish you the best of luck!
