In all seriousness, do you have any work/personal background that draws you to the law school experience?  This is something I wonder about a lot with my peers, who seem to struggle because they view law school as academic torture rather than a source of valuable information.

no i really don't--i chose law because i enjoy research, especially when i am researching to make a good argument--i had the opportunity to do a lot of this in undergrad and i got sort of a  high from it---it was always just very satisfying..and i assumed law school would be more of the same.  maybe i should've taken time off b/t undergrad and law?

I feel your pain.  I loved my classes last semester and the profs I had and I am pretty happy with my grades (a 3.5)....but this semester I am really having a hard time getting motivated. I think I busted my butt studying last semester because I was scared.  Now that fear has gone away and I just don't feel like doing anything.  I think I am burned out.  And it doesn't help that my dog just died.

aww im so sorry about your loss.  Two stray cats wondered up this year and I have given them homes..that has eased some of the stress I think.  Maybe you can adopt a new puppy and that would give you something new to be excited about! Im thinking about joining a new gym or  getting a school is not cutting it.  I feel burned out and mad at myself at the same time---i feel like i only gave about 40 or 50% effort last semester, but at the same time I am so sick of the material and the professors that I'm feeling burned out...Maybe I'm just lazy

Everybody is either a nerd or straight out of the set of the OC.

You just summed it up---anybody considering law school shoud know this---it seems like there are only a few people that fall somewhere in the middle, and I am unfortunately one of them.  Im so glad to hear that other people feel the same way I do about this.  I've decided that since im already going to be in about 40K debt after this year and with my major it would be impossible to find a job that would even pay that much a year, i should just get the JD.  Even if law was the wrong thing for me, I'm just going to force myself to practice for a few years to pay back debt.  Im also going through a little crisis.....I wish I had considered a few years ago the things that are important to me (free time, being around people I really care about) and the things that are not(money, prestigous career) and I might have never started down this path...

Hey Everyone--I need a little pep talk or something.  I am starting to feel really down about law school.  I cannot motivate myself to work.  I can't stand most of the people in school with me, with the exception of a few I like.  I don't find any joy in any of the work or in any topics we discuss.  I always thought I wanted to be an attorney, and I always heard it was boring and actually took me going to law school and getting in debt to believe the rumors though.  The atmosphere does not even seem academic--it just seems like work.  Unfortunately, I majored in public administration and philosophy for undergrad so I would not have any luck finding a job if I were to leave school.  Should I try to tranfer schools? What would my chances be? My gpa is only a 3.007.  I turned down georgia state last year for a tier you think they would even accept me again? Or do you think tranferring is even the solution to my problems...Help!

GO TO COLLEGE-with that gpa you should be able to get a good scholarship and if you have a good national hs debate record, you may be able to get some $$ to debate in college!
