General Board / Re: Grades: Better or Worse Than You Expected?
« on: January 09, 2009, 03:03:20 PM »
got one really-awesome-had-to-blink-my-eyes-and-check-the-screen-three-more-times grade and one very meh grade. still waiting on the last one and just hoping to escape the trifecta of emotions by avoiding some kind of really enraging grade.

I felt pretty good about the exam that I got the awesome grade on and pretty crappy about the exam I got the meh grade on. So seemingly there is some correlation, at least for me.

General Board / Re: Fordham Evening/Part-time Division

well definitely not in 1L/1E because you are split into sections and all the evening sections meet at night and the day sections meet during the day...if you stay an evening student for 2E-4E maybe you can opt into day classes? I'm not really sure, but you could call the school and ask.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Fordham FT/ PT and other NYC schools
« on: November 21, 2008, 04:25:06 PM »
Hi, you are borderline for fordham PT (you can automatically switch into FT after your first year). I would NOT want to commute to UCONN from nyc - it will be a long trip, and during your 1L you will not want to spend extra time commuting. Check out Cardozo though. Your numbers line up better with them. Other options to look at: Brooklyn, Rutgers-Newark and Seton Hall - all are very quick commutes from nyc.

Wait List / Fordham Wait List
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:59:04 PM »
I'm on the Fordham waitlist right now, but haven't heard a peep in at least a month. Anybody got any info?

I keep checking LSN, but I can't seem to pinpoint anyone who's gotten in off the waitlist in the last month or so.

General Board / Re: Attire for EIW

ahhh, i don't like Tahari (usually too highwaisted and mom-ish for me) but this just goes to show that women need to try on a bunch of brands before they decide what works best for them since they are all cut very differently.
another thing to consider when buying suits is to decide if you are a "closed jacket" or "open jacket" kind of girl. i personally don't like the closed jacket look (where you keep the suit buttoned up all day, even when you are sitting) and all you really need is a shell underneath. make sure you buy whatever type you will be most comfortable in.

Just wanted to weigh in on the women's suit debate...I will be a 1L in a few weeks but for the past 3 years have been working at a large company in NYC where I have to wear suits 5 days a week...and i LOVE LOVE LOVE my jcrew suits. I can't say enough good things about them. I think the jackets are perfectly tailored and as long as I wear fairly high heels I dont need to hem the pants (Im 5'4"). They will run you $400+ but mine have lasted a long time and its worth it. (and they have good sales when you catch them).

My coworkers also like Ann Taylor (regular, not Loft), but I don't prefer their suits for my body type. If you have the extra money I would spring for a Theory suit, but they are regularly $600+. I also do not own one skirt suit and no one has ever said a word.

Lastly, one bit of advice that I think I would have taken while buying my first set of suits: buy two pairs of pants per jacket if you can afford it - the pants wear out so much faster than the jackets and it can prevent you from buying an entirely new suit when they do.

I have an ING account and I think its great - and def get your GF or whoever to refer you bc they get $10, but you get $25!

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Re: If you've visited Fordham...
« on: May 15, 2008, 03:02:32 PM »
There is definitely not much of a 'campus', but the law school is still in a nice little pocket between the UWS and Hells Kitchen area. Its very close to Central Park and the Time Warner Center and is practically in Lincoln Center.
The classrooms i saw were nice and new for the most part, and the library looked pretty recently redone as well but it was PACKED when I went (last Ocotber sometime).

2L job search / PT to FT at Fordham - OCI?
« on: May 13, 2008, 11:20:43 AM »
Hi Everyone,
I am considering attending Fordham's PT program, and switching to FT after the first year (I will need to take two summer classes 1L summer to be caught up).

I know that I want NYC Biglaw - is there any disadvantage to being a PT to FT student? Will firms discrimintae in any way? Do any Fordham students know of any issues with OCI pertaining to PT to FT students?

I am weighing this against other FT options (ranked similarly to Fordham) but that are not in NYC.
