Law School Admissions / Fee Waivers
« on: January 05, 2009, 03:27:27 PM »
I took the December 2008 LSAT with the intention of applying during the Fall 2009 cycle.  I've already been contacted by several schools, each granting me fee waivers for this cycle.  Right now, I couldn't even apply to these schools if I wanted to, as I haven't even sought out recommenders or started my personal statement.  Would it be safe to assume that these same schools would grant me fee waivers next fall, or should I contact these schools letting them know that I won't be applying to law school this cycle?  I'm interested in applying to a couple of these schools, and any money saved on application fees would be greatly appreciated.

I earned a 163.  I missed 20, 10 of those coming in my very first section (Logical Reasoning).  Needless to say, I think nerves got the best of me.  Back to the drawing board for a February retake - congrats to those who are decidedly done with the process!

This waiting game sucks.

I did have a wierd feeling today at work - now I have much more free time on my hands.  I'm kind of going through withdrawls, too - like some others, I liked doing the games, but good riddance to thos R.C. passages!

1. I hate the clerifying statement. I've been studying for months to take this test and I get stuck trying to remember how to make my cursive b attach to my cursive r. Why couldn't I just print it? What's the big freaking deal LSAC???

My thoughts EXACTLY!  I've never been so stressed out simply copying a statement verbatum!  My cursive is legible, but it takes me FORVER!  I thought they would proceed to the next set of directions before I finished, and the proctors almost did!

For me?

Logical Reasoning #1: 7
Logical Reasoning #2: 5
Reading Comprehension: 3
Logical Games: 3

My strengths lie in the games section, and I was able to finish with about five minute left.  Reading Comprehension usually gives me the most problems, but I didn't get hung up on the first passage (which usually happens).  As for my first Logical Reasoning section, I don't think it was difficult as much as it was my first section of the test.  I'm not accustomed to doing PrepTests that early in the morning, so it took a while for me to get started.  That, and I was SUPER nervous!  I had to rush through my last couple of questions, and I actually ended up leaving one blank.

Even though we have yet to receive our scores, I'm proud of my performance.  Aside from the nerves early on, I felt prepared and was about to get into a grove about midway through my second section.

No guesses on the scale, but I had trouble with my first section, too.  I felt as though I took a little too long on each problem, and I ended up having to rush through the last three.

Congratulations, everyone!  I can't tell you how relieved I was RIGHT before I started the writing sample just to be done with the core of the exam!

A lot of people reschedule, don't beat yourself up about it too much.  Better to postpone and do well  ;)

I rescheduled twice - I really had no intentions of taking the test in June, but thought I was going to take October's.  Now, I'm glad I waited.  I feel like I've prepared enough so that I feel confident I can post a good score tomorrow.

Good luck to all my fellow December test takers!
